    CarcosaCon 2019

Hi all, I’m setting off for CarcosaCon next weekend 22-24 March, the Call of Cthulhu convention in a Polish castle: https://carcosacon.com/ Guests include Mike Mason, Robin Laws, Ken Hite, Andrew & Sean from the HPLHS, and the whole Chaosium posse. Will I see any Olde Yoggsters there? best, Mark
  2. In 2018 over 1,000 different people came to play board games, card games and RPGs and on the 24th & 25th August 2019 we're expecting more! RPG wise in 2018 we had 14 tables on average in each of the 5 slots with the majority of those being D&D Adventurers League. For 2019 we've expanded the space available to RPGs and we're aiming to have 20 tables on average in each of the 5 slots, with approximately 50% of those tables being for D&D Adventurers League. That's in addition to having lots of open play space for gaming of all kinds and having lots of exhibitors, demos and a board game library. If you want to know more about the convention in general then check out our website - www.tabletopscotland.co.uk If you want to see what RPGs we currently have schedule then check out the listing here - www.tabletopscotland.co.uk/what-can-i-do/events/rpgs/ If you want to run RPGs at the convention please use the RPG Submission form on our website - www.tabletopscotland.co.uk/what-can-i-do/events/rpg-submission/ If you have any questions let me know! Cheers, Dave Convention Director Tabletop Scotland: At the heart of gaming in Scotland. 2019 Dates : 24th & 25th August 2019, Dewars Centre, Perth. Facebook | Twitter | Instagram
  3. It turns out we managed to snag a table at this year's AireCon in Harrogate (I enquired last summer but one's just freed up). 👍 So come see a few Yoggies (on the 9th & 10th) at one of the fastest growing tabletop conventions in the UK. We'll be there offering Eternal Journals and Lovecraftian Letters, recording stuff and generally chatting. 😀
  4. I figured that many here has been to NecronomiCon Providence at least once. With kids and other financial concerns, I have to plan out my vacations and conventions some time in advance, thus why I am asking about NecronomiCon Providence 2019 now. My wife and I are highly considering going to this event next year for our 5 yr anniversary. While not sure how much they will be next year, we want to get at least Silver pass if not Gold. I have read the differences but I would like to hear from those who have attended, is the Gold really worth the extra price?
  5. The UK Games Expo begins to roll round again (for its 12th year). Are you going? Helen and I plan on being there on the Friday/Saturday, weird cameras and recording equipment in hand. This looked much fun last year:

  9. Hey everyone, Rogue Cthulhu, the fan group that runs a ton of Cthulhu gaming at Origins Game Fair (that I am also part of), has posted their planned list of scenarios for this year with date/time, title, description, and Keeper name if you want to start making a wishlist! Origins tickets aren't on sale until May, but this is fun to read through. And except for maybe Saturday night, we can almost always find a game for you to play in if you just want to stop by the Rogue Cthulhu room if you don't have anything planned for a particular time. https://roguecthulhu.wordpress.com/origins/ jared

    London Horror Festival 2018

Bit late to the party on this one but there seem to be a couple of Lovecraft-themed plays still to ...er… play before the festival ends. Looks like it's too late for Pickman's Model, but there's still Providence (29-31/10) and Asenath's Tale: The Thing on the Doorstep (1-3/11) to go. https://www.oldredliontheatre.co.uk/london-horror-festival.html
  11. DevaCon III will be held next April in the historic city of Chester. This small but perfectly-formed gaming gathering is organised by Stygian Fox supremo Stephanie McAlea - getcha tickets now! 😎 https://www.tickettailor.com/events/devacon3/214735/
  12. Looks like the line-up for the London Lovecraft Festival (taking part in February) is up and tickets can be booked. http://londonlovecraft.com/
  13. Penny Arcade's PAX has posted their schedule for their upcoming Philadelphia convention. Announced Call of Cthulhu games currently include: Deirdre of the Sorrows, Ides of Winter, The Outlaws of Desolation Peak, and Wailing Women. EDIT: The list of exhibitors currently TBA, but they do have a mobile app. Some panels have been posted on the schedule, but the main events page isn't showing anything yet. (Presumably the final list hasn't been confirmed.)
  14. The Dudley Bug Ball is returning in February after a long hiatus. Get yourself a ticket and get ye hence to the Black Country for some gaming - gonna be bostin' 😀 http://www.dudleybugball.org.uk/
  15. Hi everyone, I'm helping with a new con that is coming this February in College Park, Maryland, just outside Washington DC. There's only 1 Call of Cthulhu game but I'm running it! If you want in, you can buy tickets on the website now. Lots of other good RPG and mini games, including a sequel to the infamous D&D module X1 Isle of Dread by the creator himself, David "Zeb" Cook! https://tabletop.events/conventions/scrum-con-2019
  16. Anyone here planning to attend GenghisCon 42 in Colorado? It's been announced for February 21 - 24, 2019 at the Hyatt Regency Aurora. I'd love to meet some local Call of Cthulhu fans and maybe even submit to run a scenario if I have one ready for playtesting in time. Also, if any of you are residents of Colorado, feel free to join the Facebook community at Colo of Cthulhu.
  17. There seem to be a lot of Cthulhu games being run this year, especially in the afternoon. I'm planning to bring a load of Cthulhu supplements etc. to sell at the Bring & Buy.
  18. Hey Guys! I'm a newbie here, and I'm just looking for some info about Necronomicon. From what I've been able to gather the tickets are tiered and give you different levels of access to panels and events. Is this correct? I'm trying to go ahead and set money aside for everything that I'll need, so I'm wondering about pricing. Thanks for your help!

  20. Hi fellow YSDCers!! For the last few years I've been designing a Lovecraft-meets-Lord-Dunsany RPG called "Dreamland." I'd love to run it at YSDC Games Day, but sadly I'm on the West Coast of the USA and won't be able to make it over. Since I won't be there personally, I was wondering if anyone would be interested in GMing a playtest of the game at Games Day? The awesome @Shimmin Beg (hi Shimmin!! Hope you're well!!) has playtested the game in the past, but I believe he's also going to be far, far overseas this year and unavailable for Game Day. Anyway, if anyone is interested in doing this I'd be happy to send you some posters I've drawn & stuff as thanks!! And I'm also looking for just general playtesters, if someone won't be at Game Day but is just curious to read it and try it out! Many thanks, Jason Thompson (@mockman)
  21. For those in the Dallas-Fort Worth area of Texas (USA), I will be running a game (non-published scenario) of Call of Cthulhu at "Metroplex RPG Expo 2" in Plano on Saturday, October 13. It runs from 6 - 10 pm. There are 5 player seats available. https://warhorn.net/events/metroplex-rpg-expo-2/schedule/2018/10/13 Scenario: DEGLI DEI Description: It's 1920, and Peter Farnese has finished building a very special garden. He loves it very much. Nobody else will go in it, though, and now he won't come out. Maybe you can find him. It's just a garden, right?
  22. Given the long history of crossover betweeen all things Chaosium-related, some people here may be interested in RuneQuest Con Down Under III, an Australian RuneQuest Convention being run on November 11 (for 1 day only!) at Kryal Castle, Ballarat, Victoria, supported by Chaosium and the RPG Review Cooperative. Costs $120 (AUD) including lunch, dinner, bus to and from the train to Melbourne, a Glorantha LARP and other fun events. More details on the poster or at the link.

    WashingCon 2018

For those of you in the Washington, DC area or who are nearby, WashingCon 2018 is coming up September 8-9. This is a small con focused more on boardgames, but there seems to be more RPG events this year than last. I'm running two sessions of Harlem Hellfighters Never Die from Harlem Unbound. The Sunday game is full but it looks like there is space available in the Saturday game. http://www.washingcon.com
  24. It'll be my first time visiting Dragon Con, curious if any CoC or variant play happening? The official scheduled game search comes up empty.

    Gen Con 2018

Anyone else running Call of Cthulhu games at GenCon this year? In the past I know GM's have posted the games they have been accepted to run to give Yoggies first crack to look for games in their favorite genre. I am running 4 games this year: RPG18127209 Forbidden Dreams Under a Southern Cross, Convicts & Cthulhu (new scenario), Thursday 2-6 pm RPG18127210 Tequila Sunrise, new Delta Green, Thursday 8-midnight RPG18127211 Witness to the Past, CoC 7e, Friday 2-6pm RPG18127208 Forbidden Dreams Under a Southern Cross, Convicts & Cthulhu (new scenario), Friday 8-midnight I admit my games are a bit pricey, but as one former player stated after initially balking at the entry fee: "Can I give you more money?" There are a few Yoggies who have played around my convention tabletop before and can provide some testimonials. I usually have lots of props and items, pre-gen characters that fit the scenario, and I run a fun and exciting horror game in the 4 hour time slot. I'm particularly excited to run the adventure I am writing for Convicts & Cthulhu. For anyone who can't get in to one of my games, I invite you to pop around with generics. I usually have one person not show up despite paying the fee (and it has gotten worse since the tickets are refundable for no-shows) and thus I can squeeze you in. So who is running games at GenCon?
