  • YSDC: The Eternal Journal

    PoC

For the past few weeks we've been mentioning our new publication format, the Eternal Journal - a notebook and magazine system. The Eternal Journal uses a disc-binding mechanism to corral and correlate your content into one flexible, compact and practical space.

Pre-orders are open now (until the end of August).

Below you can watch Marty go through one possible combination. As of today's launch there are some 30 or more items and variations available – a number which will grow in the coming months as we add more articles, utilities, notepaper, scenarios, fold-out maps and rules sets to the mix. It is a highly configurable system (even the covers can be changed) and it's not restricted to just Cthulhu gaming.

Each Eternal Journal can hold up to 200 pages, which can simply be added or removed (push them in, peel them out). It can also conveniently fold back on itself to take up less space at your table. The more I've used the system, the more I've grown to love it. It's both a notebook and a zine, one that need never run out of pages and is compact and light enough to carrying around easily.

    Pre-Orders
Why pre-orders? Why not crowd funding? – We're in a fortunate position that we do not need crowd funding to make this a reality. No over-hyped marketing, insane stretch goals or "eternal" delays, it's all ready to go, now – however by having a short pre-order window it means we can gauge initial interest and create correct quantities – so it's a big help to us (we may also locate some small pre-order freebies like the "bookmark"). Another incentive? After the pre-order window closes at the end of the month those will be fulfilled first before the Eternal Journal goes on normal sale several weeks later.

If you're a Patron of Yog-Sothoth you will also have access to exclusives, starting with the metal-disc Starter and Archive Set versions, as well as discounts (be sure you're logged in to see them).

So, welcome to the Eternal Journal. I hope you find it fun, interesting and most of all, useful! 😎

There are some great add-ons for Call of Cthulhu Keepers here, such as the 1920s and 1930s yearly diaries (which will be great for my Eternal Lies and Horror on the Orient Express campaigns for when a player asks that age-old question "what day is it?"), the run sheets, and the random generators (so thankful for the presence of a name generator!). Also, I'm loving the fact there is isometric graph paper!

Anyway, I bought a bunch of stuff and I'm looking forward to using it at my table.

Thanks Freddie! As you're at YSDC Games Day next month, you'll also get the commemorative Games Day cover at the event too (and possibly some other things). 😎

Thank you. I very much hope you like it!

As you can see from above, there are a few things in plan further down the pipeline as well. Disc-bound journals have now become my favourite method of note taking/keeping. I find it a very versatile system.
