cjearkham Posted 31 October, 2018 Today, October 30th, 8 PM Eastern time, USA. I took a trip to the village of Grover's Mill, NJ, this afternoon, where the Martians landed in the adaptation, and saw the 50th anniversary commemorative plaque. Apparently, current belief is that the "nationwide panic" was not so widespread but was played up by newspapers as a shot at the rival radio medium. https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/war-of-the-worlds/ https://www.roadsideamerica.com/story/2749

Travern Posted 31 October, 2018 I was considering goofing around on Twitter this evening by live-tweeting the radio broadcast. While I ultimately decided against this (the compressed timeline doesn't quite lend itself to the 280-character text bursts), I did revisit the script—it's a tremendous adaptation, utterly gripping, and supremely confident in its use of the new medium. No other version comes close.
