The hardback core book and scenario book are for which system?

This is a nice idea, but more info and some pictures of what is in the crate might be more compelling.

The core book and scenario are currently completing negotiations but it will be Lovecraftian themed.  I wish I could say more about that.  I would totally be open to suggestions on system choices and scenario preferences that you'd like to see in the box?

Inaugural crates are really tough.

1.  I don't want to promise something that ends up not being in the first box (that would disappoint people)

2.  I don't want to limit what goes in the box.  Our goal is to cram it full of value so it's worth the price (which I think we have done)

Box #2 will be infinitely easier because we will have photos of everything that actually shipped out in box #1.  We know that's more of a slow launch and honestly we're fine with it.  We are pleased with our early adopters and we're tossing in some nice bennies for them because they took a gamble on us early on.

Just found an awesome new product today to add in the #2 box.

It will be a fun ride!

That's fair enough. I'll keep an eye on this, and look forward to more information when you are able to give it! :)

Will it be possible to purchase the first crate after the fact (after we have seen what is in it)?  $75 is a lot for a crate - more than I'm willing to risk before knowing what a typical one will look like.

Very poor models for $75

Not sure what you're referring to LazarusBrown but I can assure you that we are curating high quality materials for every crate.  We are inviting a lot of creatives to submit items for our boxes... some we accept... some we don't, but unless you hear it from me it's not official.  With that said we have some fun news on the inaugural crate.  We are including the Chaosium Call of Cthulhu Investigator Handbook in the box.  That should make this box one of the best values and will provide a nice launch point for the future boxes.  Have fun Cthulhu-ing

Can we purchase past crates if we don't subscribe right off the bat?

That's a really great question.  We have decided to make a limited set of each box, so until our subscriber count maxes out for the first boxes, we will have extras.  This means that if you subscribe next month (for example), as long as we have inventory left, we will start you on Box #1, then Box #2, etc.  Can't promise that as at our current pace we may sell out but as of now, we're not sold out just yet.  I very much appreciate any advice you have on this.

Thank you!  Will you be posting the contents of the first box at any time?

Actually... as I see this... this is aimed towards die-hard Cthulhu fans, right?

Don't most of the die-hard Cthulhu fans (I say die-hard cause 75$ is pretty steep in my world) already own the investigators handbook?

Subscription crates are a tough business.  No matter what you put in the box, 100% of the people will never be completely satisfied.  Our goal is always 100% happiness but the reality lies somewhere in the grey area there.  We debated your actual point in great detail, but we landed on the conclusion that we wanted to start our subscription crate ensuring that no matter who subscribed, they would have everything they needed to play for a full month using the box contents.  We chose the investigators handbook instead of a GM resource because even if the subscriber already had the investigator's handbook, it was likely that another player in their group might not... so it wasn't a wasted or duplicate product to have.  Given the savings this box offers it also isn't too costly to have at worst one extra item.  The remaining contents of the box would more than make up for it.  Good point though and thank you for bringing it up.  We'll keep listening.

Do you know if there will be many props in the box, and (if so) many that aren't paper?

I fully understand the difficulty of your endevour.

And I think you are right about that the Investigators handbook is a better choice compared to the GM-book.

Actually this makes my decision easier. Now I can sit back, prepare for next weeks Eternal Lies game and hope that you sort out shipment to Europe in good time before all the goodies you will bring me in crate #2. :)

Yes, the goal of this box is to create true, physical, visceral settings for your campaign.  I personally believe that horror storytelling needs a level of immersion.  Naturally that's really up to the storyteller, but we will be providing some compelling props to help aid a talented GM in their weaving of the tale.  This months crate includes a truly cool incense burner with special incense "drops" that form a thick undulating smoke that snakes its way down into a "smoke pool".  It has a companion storyline that goes with it so we're hitting multiple senses... the sight of the pooling incense cloud, the sound of the storyteller's voice, the smell of the incense and the emotions that can be conveyed in the story.  I think it adds an extra dimension to the theatre of the mind.

Here is our inaugural crate that has shipped out!  Thanks to all who subscribed and we were extremely pleased with the success of the first shipment.  We have the next four crates in planning as we continue to deliver the storyline exploring Evelyn Rice and her discoveries that began in the Siege of Kut in 1916.  There she discovers the initial parchment for Algon and the Sky-Girl which leads her on a voyage to the Americas.  Crate #2 will explore her voyage and provide you with even more fun props, stories, adventure hooks, and books to continue the mysteries as they unfold.  Join us for the next Cthulhu Crate!

What about the themed miniatures?

Oh, wait, never mind - is it that silver thing to the right of the uppermost dice?

The silver thing is a Cultist Membership Ring - one of the items that is necessary for the storyline of Crate #2.

Themed miniatures are coming in Crate #3 which will include a complete miniatures terrain set that we are pretty excited about.  There are some hints in Crate #1 if you catch them.  It's all about the clues :)

We have adjusted the price for the Cthulhu Crate to a standard $39.99 per month.  We also have implemented "Crate Portability" which means that you can move your subscription from one service to the next as you find crates that you like each month.  This means that if you don't prefer the contents of the Cthulhu Crate on a given month, you can switch to Mythoard, Tenkars Tavern, Dwarven Crate, Troll Lord Crate or one of the other crates that we offer.  We think this will help you get the products you love each month and will help us build our Cthulhu Crate service.  Thanks to those that are current subscribers as you are making this happen!

Isn't there a terrain crate of some sort in the works?

I wanted to commend you folks for taking the feedback seriously and rethinking things.  Your polite tone and willingness to take suggestions speaks to a high degree of professionalism.

I certainly appreciate the feedback and we do listen.  The terrain crate is definitely on deck but is contingent on our Taloc: Mayan Kickstarter funding (which launches September 15th).  If you're interested you can pledge when it goes live (tomorrow) but the Facebook page is https://www.facebook.com/TalocMayan

That is a complete line of minis and terrain.  Our next Kickstarter hits in February for EMP Shockwave which you can review at https://www.facebook.com/EMPShockwave

Thanks again!

I should point out that if the KS funds over the next thirty days we will be including our Cthulhu Minion and our Tentacled Lady figures in the molds and production run.  These will be included in our Cthulhu Crate after that point.

This month's Cthulhu Crate #3 will contain a full 12" x 12" terrain piece for the underground Kiva set in the Southwest US circa 1917 as the story continues and Evelyn Rice and her newly found compatriot discover a powerful artifact that holds the key to the secret of Algon and the Sky Girl.  It should be a fun storyline pivot for folks...

Have fun!
