The Second YSDC Games Day!

Tickets are available (now sold out but see "Yog Con" below) for the second YSDC Games Day, on Saturday, 22nd March 2014, Shipley, West Yorkshire, UK. (Same gene as before.)

Join fellow Yoggies for another day of Cthulhu gaming fun!

The event runs tom 12 Noon - 7:30 PM

  • GAMES - yes a day of “All Cthulhu, all the time”!
  • FRIENDS - meet up with friends old & new. All like-minded cthulhuphiles!
  • FOOD - see the return of the popular “Aunty Betty’s Sandwich Service” along with a range of delicious comestibles and more.

Places are limited to 25 attendees. GMs for this event are:

  • Chris - H.P. Lovecraft Literary Podcast
  • Fin - Innsmouth House Players
  • Paul - YSDC
  • SteveD - RPGMP3
  • Val - The "Silver Fox" herself.

There is one game per group during the day, leaving plenty of time for socialising and discussion. It should be much fun (the first one was)!

YSDC Games Day (March 2014) tickets - available as eTickets for immediate download upon purchase. This is a pre-booking event only.

I will be running Machine Tractor Station Kharkov 37 and Val will be running a 1920s New Orleans scenario. Others to be announced.

Sorry, it's a pre-booked ticket event only!

But what a pre-booked event! The horror! The dice! The delicious half-time snacks! Unfortunately I am very much overseas and unable to attend this time! :(

New news in the New Year for YSDC Games Day 2.

I'm happy to announce that Chaosium will be a sponsor of this event. What this means is that the brave hardworking GMs will get some Chaosium Call of Cthulhu goodies as an additional thank you and that we'll also have a convention raffle as well (you know we like a good prize draw every-so-often). ;-)

Thank you to Chaosium (and MikeM) for the support.

Also, while the event is fully booked we are operating a reserve list (in case people with tickets can't make it). If you'd like your name to be on the reserve list (and you haven't contacted me already). Then drop me a Private Message.

Oh man, Paul and Russian accents! I have already played in your game and should let others enjot the fun but I do love some Soviet Union...

While we have sadly sold out of tickets to the physical Games Day event next month, how do you feel about the proposal for a concurrent virtual "Yog Con" held online over Saturday 22nd/Sunday 23rd March?

What that would simply mean is meeting up online to either play Cthulhu games or chat about specific topics/hold virtual seminars (or simply hangout in the chat room for...chat... etc.)

  • Games could be played via the likes of Google Hangouts/Skype/Roll 20 etc..
  • Seminars/panels/topics could also be done via Hangouts or the forums here or indeed the chat room.

I thought it might be a nice way of extending the event. Very much open to suggestions!

I wouldn't be able to be there in virtual form for any considerable length of time - I'm very knocked out due to MS-like illness, and only have short good patches, also why I play Call of Cthulhu in sporadic forum method rather than face to face! But I would be interested if I could drop into the chat room as I can manage it, and the idea of online seminars of some form sounds really good.

I've never played any RPGs on-line so I'm not the person to to give opinions on this aspect but...

The idea of seminars/panels/topics sounds excellent.

I think I'd be all over this, if I can be free that day.

I'd absolutely be up for Skype'd/roll 20'd/Fantasy Ground'd/Google Whatsits game that saturday. I so rarely get to game as anything other than a GM that I'd welcome the chance to be a player again!

I would certainly be very interested in this!  Due to relocating I cannot attend in person but would still like to be involved and this seems like a great way to do it!  I'm not au fait with Google hangouts or roll20 but would be happy to learn and get involved in any way I can :)

I'll be lucky enough to be there in person (unless something awful happens and I fail my luck roll), but the idea of a virtual YogCon sounds great, especially if there's stuff that'd happen on the Sunday too (the first YSDC Games Day passed far too quickly!). In terms of discussions / panels, the sort of things I'd love to hear about are:

  • How to get the most out of online play (Google hangouts vs. Roll20, how to avoid annoying audio issues & make it a more 'natural' experience, how best to handle handouts, audio effects, music, that sort of stuff)
  • Tips and tricks for writing and running complex multi-pathed scenarios - how best to keep track of the states of characters / clues / locations & other bits of information to facilitate smooth play. Flowcharts / wikis / programs like Scrivener?
  • Keeper-related feedback on how things went on the Saturday - any surprises, diversions, tricks they had to pull, favourite moments, etc.

I don't suppose the venue has an internet connection we can use..?

I checked today; the venue now has Wi-Fi and we should have access.

In breaking news for YSDC Games Day 2, Fin will be running a "mystery scenario" from Tales of the Crescent City, Golden Goblin's new Call of Cthulhu scenario anthology that is currently in Kickstarter.

Organisation is also underway for the "Sanity Rolls" service - yes, custom sandwiches delivered directly to you at your gaming table while you play!

Yog Drone 1.

By that I mean have somebody walk around with a video camera and let them interact with a few folks, maybe check out the vendor booths and do a general stroll about.

I suspect you may have our Games Day conflated with Gen Con. ;-)

It's not a huge convention (only 25 players + GMs and the Yoggie stall). On the day I imagine everyone will occupied playing games. :-)

I will try and take a few photos, though!
