Punktown from Miskatonic River Press

Just went for the PDF. Almost went for the book but the extra 10$ for the shipping to Canada just pushed it over the edge for my current budget.

Still, I hope my 10$ will help make this a reality.

wwwooooo-HOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

It looks like we're getting funded, everyone. I'd like to offer a personal, heartfelt thank you for *everyone* who has pledged so far. Let's try to keep the momentum up and hit some of those awesome stretch goals! C'moooooooon!

I am slightly ashamed but I've had to lower my pledge, I just cannot afford the $85 I initially pledged.

I'm still backing though, just at a lower level ($50)

Still very much looking forward to this, after the initial mention of this I sought out Jeffery Thomas's Punktown works, they're some of the best weird fiction I've read in quite a while!

Hope I'm not letting the side down too much :)

I am looking forward to this, but with xmas coming up as well as spending a lot on Guide to Glorantha I only had sufficient funds to really go for something basic. Secondly, unless it's a very high production standard hardback, corebook or the like, I tend on reply on pdfs rather than hardcopy these days.

Along with the point that the stretch goals were a little late arriving, there wasn't much incentive to increase my pledge to something more than the cost of the PDF I would normally want to buy for a supplement ($15).

That said, I am really pleased they got funded, and I'm really looking forward to it. If it's really good, and it reaches wider publication I may buy a hardcopy later.

.......and I've just had a project update come through to thank people for sticking it out at the $75 dollar level (which was my previous pledge plus overseas shipping).

Now I feel awful :(

Ack! I wasn't trying to shame or upset anyone...just encourage bravery. I can easily see why people would back off it they didn't feel they were getting anything more than a book. I'm going to do my utmost to reward those who can stick it out. :)

And as long-time MRP pal, backer, and supporter of past projects, Jason Williams pointed out:

Tom' date=' I have no doubt that you will do your best to make it happen.

Your least expensive option for the $75+ backers is to still include a CD with PDF's of MRP's other products. That alone would make it worthwhile to stay at the $75 minimum level to receive that CD.[/quote']

‎As Jeffrey Thomas' Lovecraftian CyberNoir world of Punktown is now officially an RPG, the next goal is to make it the setting for a new anthology, to be edited by Jeffrey and "I own 2012, bitches" editorial rock star Brian Sammons (Yoggie's own Cthulhudude). 43 hours left to rebirth a colony outpost that is now a game into a brand new book of Punktown fiction by a variety of today's top dark fiction authors.

Now if just some of those books I did in 2012 actually come out in 2013... Still, this Punktown book is sure to come out, but please continue to support it and let's get the most punk out of this town that we can get. If you want a new setting for Call of Cthulhu, something as far from the "same old, same old" as you can get, well that's Punktown, baby.

...and if we get to the stretch goals I just posted, we'll get to see a bit of both maybe! Check 'em out and spread the news!

Tom, any chances of getting the Keeper screen out? Not the cardboard but the PDF, then we can just print it and paste it on carboard. What say you?

At this point, Randall, I'm looking to do a smaller screen with lighter card stock, and include the data disc...but to make sure, keep spreading the word...at $13K plus, the costs for that should be covered.

And just in case anyone else been on the fence about the Kickstarter MRP is running, check this latest update:

Tom, I've noticed something on the kickstarter page which mentioned a collection of Jeffery Thomas tales called "Ghosts of Punktown" but I can't find this anywhere online.....

Do you know something that Google doesn't? :)

Chaosium recently spoke to Tom Lynch of Miskatonic River Press. Although the Punktown Kickstarter is way, way overdue (launched in Nov 2012!) a 50% preview of the book has been recently shared with backers, and the second half is in the final stages of layout (work on this being undertaken by Angus Abranson of Chronicle City for MRP).

For this reason Chaosium has decided to keep the Punktown license in place and hopefully see this much-delayed project through to completion in the coming months.

It would be excellent for this to see the full light of day after almost five years.

Also Jeffrey Thomas has just released a couple of new Punktown short stories in his latest collection. I'm a big fan of his work and looking forward to this too.

It will be interesting to see if, after all of this time, whether this still meets expectations for the product.

I've read through the PDF that was shared and although I found some of it interesting it felt a little 'light' on content and quite amateurishly laid out (when compared to the new Chaosium products and other RPG products released recently) .

I'm hoping that this was just the fact that it was only about 50% of the finished product though and that the final version will be more polished.....

For this project, will those who missed the KS be able to purchase the printed book after, or does the license not extend to that?

Updated statement about Punktown Kickstarter

Last year, we reported that the Chaosium license for Miskatonic River Press's much delayed Punktown Kickstarter would remain in place. Backers had recently received a PDF of the first 50% of the book, and Angus Abranson of Chronicle City was overseeing completion of the second half.

We are pleased to update we have recently received the finished, laid-out book for final review (except for the "Thank You" list of backers' names which is being completed now). Angus has advised backers that printing and shipping is slated to start in mid-June.

As this Kickstarter project was launched in November 2012 we are pleased that the end is finally in sight.

Eh, he hasn't advised me, but I'm glad to hear it.  Last update to the kickstarter was in February, last email from Angus was in January.

I was about to post that I hadn't gotten mine yet, but hey, there it was stuck behind a folder in my email.  Nice to put another project in the 'Done' column.
