Lovecraftian Fonts

Cool! Thank for letting us know about these. The creator has a couple other free ones on his website that look as good or better. http://www.blambot.com/symbols.html I particularly like the fact that he offers Mac PostScript versions of the fonts! Perfect for use with my DTP software :D

Truly, fonts are the Keeper's friend. I always need more handwriting fonts to create those many handouts... I'm currently using one called Everett Steele's Hand for Corbitt's diary in that infamous scenario "The Haunting"

And those oddball, symbol fonts are a very simple way to spruce up pages of occult symbols.

You just made me think of something else. I think you might really like the following fonts for Tekumel. Here is an example of what some of the fonts look like (though the example is done by hand).

Another good site for fonts seems to be http://www.fontfreak.com, they also appear to have software for font creation available from the website.

Cthulhudude

Thanks for posting these and here’s my contribution, it’s called Cthulhu Runes. Just go to the link below and find a page with all sorts of cool Rune fonts and at the very bottom, well it’s the language of Cthulhu and crazy squid-dudes.

Here are some more font sourcepages:

1. Iconian Fonts (http://www.iconian.com/).

This is the home of the font Everett Steele's Hand. It also has a number of other possibly useful fonts including a hieroglyphic dingbats set(Ygyptian) and a symbolic font (Homeworld) perfect for an occult text.

2. Free Typewriter Fonts (http://www.free-typewriter-fonts.com/)

Homepage for over 50 fonts perfect for telegrams and the like.

3. Legolas' RPG Fonts (http://www.legolas.org/font/)

Fonts useful for occult texts.

Is that supposed to be Pnakotic?

I don't think so as it doesn't look like the sample version in the Keepers companion. If anything there is a slight resemblence to Tsath-Yo or maybe Aklo.

If you fancy HPL's own handwriting, you should check out the HP Lovecraft Historical Society Prop Fonts CD.

The Devoted to Cthulhu script at the top of this page was created with The Man's own hand.

Sort of. 8)

Scroll about 1/3 to 1/2 the way down the page. They have a ww2 German font.

I've found a couple more font websites that contain a good range of material for use by Keepers.

RK Fonts is a set of five historical fonts including Sandskrit & Merotic.

Alien Fonts is a collection of fonts derived from SF TV series, films, computer games and books. There are two standout fonts on this site, Krell is the script of the race featured in the SF Classic 'Forbidden Planet'. The other is called Utopian, this is the font created by Sir Thomas Moore for his utopian novel.

Mentioned on the Daily Illuminator a few days back: The Alphabet Synthesis Machine.

Create your own fonts!

Just tried that out (Look for Old Imperial & New Imperial Cursive), it's great for quick'n'dirty glyphic fonts, pity it can't do the numbers as well.

I don't know if this site has the sort of fonts you're looking for, but doesn't http://www.cthulhulives.org have some fonts there you can download for free and buy?

It does indeed and I think that it has already been mentioned in this thread.

I have also stumbled across one other link that is very useful in creating ancient texts, it is a discussion of ancient scripts and the evolution of writing, it has all the information needed to create something that does not look like 're-skinned' english.

A further site on languages and writing that is worth looking at is Omniglot aside from discussing many past and present scripts it has a section devoted to artificial languages that have been created by visitors to the site.

I've been back to the Omniglot webpage and found that they have a collection of fonts available for download, several of which look like they would be suitable for mythos texts.
