In July of 1972, the eyes of the world are set on Reykjavic, Iceland, where the World Chess Championship is taking place, and Bobby Fischer is a serious thread to 24 years of Soviet domination. Investigators must convince Erik Leonidovich Yefimov, a low-value Soviet double agent not to use his visit to Reykjavik as an opportunity to defect. At the same time, they must watch Virgil Marquardt, an American cultist and editor of Shining Word Publications. Bobby Fischer is a subscriber of a Shining Word publication, and our investigator must verify if Marquardt's trip to Reykjavik is related to him in any way. What they don't know is that Marquardt is using subliminal messages in his publications to slowly turns Fischer into an avatar of Daoloth.

The scenario takes place during the 1972 World Chess Championship. The match between the American Bobby Fischer and the Russian Boris Spassky has been named Match of the Century and is considered a minor Cold War event. The scenario uses Fischer paranoid beliefs and strange behavior at the time, giving it a Mythos explanation.
The scenario contains two new spells:
- Speak the Shining Word, which let the will of Daoloth guide the caster's words;
- Drop Guise, which calls for Daoloth to rend the veil that surrounds them, revealing the true form of anyone looking.
