  • Mikey "The Clock" DeHavilland, leader of the "Five-Fingers" cult/crime organization in Red Hook, New York was supposed to have gone mad reading a tome that suggested that the Cosmic Divinity of Man and lineage to the Blood of the Great Old One/organic comet Tiamat could be proved by a series of "intentional mutations" that began with adding an extra finger to one's hand through the sheer force of will under meditation, and progressed through increasingly bizarre and irrational transformations until a yogi skilled and mad enough could transform into "a thing that Mikey said was a penguin, but instead took the form of a horrendous, towering, albino, waddling thing from out of a nightmare; looking nothing at all like a penguin, it would stare with one raw, red unblinking eye and grin with a mouth full of thoroughly un-penguinlike, needle-sharp, glittering, white fangs, and make waak-ing noises for hours until the cursed thing began talking in a voice that was Mikey's, yet wasn't even remotely human...." Depending on who you ask, this was either Mikey's last day on Earth as a human being, or her first, as the gangster would spend the rest of her life in the "true human" form of an ever-mutating amorphous horror, until destroyed by Prohibition agent Elliott Ness....
