Summary

The investigators must return to Manchuria to stop the Empire of Shadows from seeping out and overwhelming the mundane world.

Synopsis

The investigators leave Mongolia in the company of Russian soldiers headed for the city of Harbin in Manchuria. There, the investigators must find their allies. En route, a group of Nightgaunts offers to trade the Compass of Shadows for the Jade Urn. They later find Harbin plagued by a strange twilight state, as if the Empire of Shadows is impinging on the mundane world. The investigators must close a Shadow Portal opened by the Shen De (Deep Ones) of the Black Ocean sect in an abandoned temple, destroying Hu Feng's Burner in the process. There they also find the missing pages of the Necronomicon and deduce that to stop Sayk Fong Lee for good, they will have to voluntarily submit to the arcane power of the Five Agonies.
