Summary

The Investigators are hired by a Miskatonic University professor to receive a valuable artifact donated by a collector of arcane historical items, located in Southern Mississippi. The daughter of the obscure historian is also a former acquaintance of one of the Investigators ... so the pleasant trip down south will also be a reunion of sorts.

Synopsis

The Investigators' mission goes awry almost as soon as they arrive in the tiny Mississippi river town -- the historian they have been sent to meet is missing, his house having been shot up by an unknown party and his butler and wife both killed. This heinous crime was committed by a pair of rival bibliophile -- sisters who live just upriver of the collector's house. These sisters are no longer human, but have become Thralls of Cthulhu. In their antebellum mansion, which the historian and daughter had foolishly attempted to burgle, the Investigators may locate the corpses of both and encounter the mad and monstrous sisters.

Player Handouts: A Telegram, a Note, two letters, a hand-drawn sketch map.

Locations: Davies Landing, in southern Mississippi

Creatures: Thrall of Cthulhu, Loll

Tomes and Artifacts: Vishakhapatnam Fragment (a series of brass plates relating to Buddhism), Monstres and Their Kynde, Cthulhu Idol, Deep One Sphere, mentions of Book of Dzyan, Unaussprechlichen Kulten, G'harne Fragments, Cthaat Aquadingen, Book of Darkening (although no opportunity to obtain any of these books).

Campaigns / Scenarios: Suggestions are offered in The Great Old Ones (Supplement) about linking its various scenarios into a very loose campaign.

Comments

Scenario includes a creature description for Thralls of Cthulhu as well as a spell description for "The Keenness of Two Alike". Another new creature, the Loll, is an interloper from Mars's Dreamlands (and a summoning spell is described).

There is an oblique suggestion that one of the paintings hanging in the mansion of the Thralls is by Richard Upman Pickman.
