Sherman, Texas, has its courthouse burned down by arson during the trial of an African American man, George Hughes. During the riot, Hughes was locked in the vault at the courthouse and died in the fire, only to later be dragged behind a car and set afire. THe Governor calls in National Guard troops to control the situation.
