Synopsis

 Spoiler Section (Highlight to Read)
Timothy Whitman received a series of nude photos of his daughter, along with a blackmail letter asking for $10.000, or the pictures would be sent to the press. As investigators are hired to find her and start looking in to the case, they find that Clarisse is dating (and probably modelling for) Jonathon Colbert, a gifted but controversial painter and photographer, whose exhibitions were cancelled a few weeks before due to the lewd and immoral nature of his works. In one of the galleries is a Colbert painting representing a Grizzly Bear shaman of the Rumsen tribe who lived in San Francisco before the Spanish arrive. An experienced investigator identifies the dark, unsound spheres in the background of the painting as a representation of Yog-Sothoth.

Further investigation on the whereabouts of Mr. Colbert leads the PCs to the Tenderloin, a district known for his brothels, prostitues, homeless and crime, where an infection called "The Black Madness" is spreading. The disease, characterized by a permanent shadow cast over the skin of the infected, makes them unresponsive and unaware of their surroundings. In fact, the madness is a manifestation of the Grizzly Bear shaman, who crossed the barries of Yog-Sothoth's realm to our world using Mr. Colbert's art. The infected have their minds transported to the realm of Yog-Sothoth, while their bodies are trapped in this world.

After some time, the investigators meet Mr. Colbert in his apartment, just to find he doesn't know were Clarisse is. Also, there are indications that she may have got herself infected by the Black Madness. They finally find her in an alley in the Tenderloin, and got imediatelly surrounded by sick homeless and infected by the Black Madness. Inside Yog-Sothot's realm investigators must bring Clarisse back to our world, if they survive the mind-shattering encouter with the All-In-One itself.
