I ran the second half of an original scenario for Call of C’thulhu this past weekend for a group of people who are new to the game. The original beginning of this scenario appeared in the appendix of the 3rd Edition Call of C’thulhu boxed set as a scenario vignette for a beginning scenario for a campaign. I put together the rest of it, however.

It can be viewed at:

http://www.yog-sotho...what=Max_Writer

Moretown and Dr. Haylett are both real, as is the article by the Honorable D. P. THOMPSON of Montpelier. The Mad River Valley exists.

Characters are:

• Professor Kati Brooks - Professor of Science at Radcliffe
• Charles Puccano - Barber from Boston
• Grace O’Conner - zookeeper at the Franklin Park Zoo, Boston
• Claire McAdams - Talent agent from Boston (who couldn't make this session)
• Jason Carthage - Museum Curator, Boston Museum of Art
• Dorothy Morgan - Stunt woman (first in the country!)

No spoilers really. This is an original scenario (of sorts).

I haven't finished reading the whole Haunter in the Hills story yet - but I love what you have done with it so far. I always liked the hook, but just never had the time to develop it.

You can get a lot of chills out of the isolation of the bus dying in the remote hills with something out there in the trees....

Thanks StagLord.

I borrowed VERY heavily on Whisperer in Darkness for the second half and I took it far too easy on them in the second half (though, in my defense, the mi-go fell far more quickly than I thought, and a hitchhiker that they picked up kicked as hard as being hit by a bullet (no impaling damage there so full damage for the mi-go)).

This group did what none of my players has done before either (see the end).

Is it good enough to get the scenario possibly published? Only Chaosium would have the rights as the intro is all theirs.

I ran "Mary" from Before the Fall this past weekend. It can be found here:

http://www.yog-sotho...what=Max_Writer

Sorry about the length. I got carried away again.

Only two investigators this time (which worked out well):

Liam Smith - Private Investigator
Chip Mathers - Bounty Hunter

There are spoilers. The scenario is very open-ended and requires the characters to take a little initiative. They failed in the scenario but I think learned something.

BTW, for anyone who has been reading these regulary, the apartment at 326 S. East Street belonged to Bill Sadler, one of the characters that the player running Chip Mathers used to play (before said character died horribly in the basement of the Corbitt House in Boston).

I ran the Call of C'thulhu scenario "Dance of Death" this past weekend. No deaths but one severe sanity loss towards the end. It can be found here:

http://www.yog-sotho...what=Max_Writer

Characters are:

Benjamin Willows - Museum Curator at the Miskatonic University Exhibit Museum

Professor Beurigard Johanson - Professor at Miskatonic University

Liam Smith - Private Investigator

Chip Mathers - Bounty Hunter

The session went longer than I thought it would but I think everyone had fun.

I ran Dust to Dust this past weekend and the journal entry can be found here:

http://www.yog-sotho...what=Max_Writer

There is also a very short journal entry entitled "Interlude: Dr. Katie Brooks" in which I catch up one of my players so she can join the game.

The Investigators are:

Professor Beaurigard Johanson, Assistant Professor of Archaeology, Miskatonic University.

Dr. Katie Brooks, Professor of Science, Ratcliffe University (on sabattical and looking for a place to hide out).

Chip Mathers, Bounty Hunter.

Mathers and Johanson have been through some disturbing things of late and it is telling on the investigators, though Professor Johanson is recovering (seemingly) more quickly that Mr. Mathers.

I ran a Call of Cthulhu event at a tiny, yearly gathering of friends called CaesarCon (as the first fell on the Ides of March) this past weekend. Last year I started "Spirits Over Arkham" and this year finished it up. It can be found here:

http://www.yog-sotho...what=Max_Writer

Characters who came back were:

Bionka Weathersby - writer of weird fiction
Jacob Silverman - archaeologist
Jebediah Hook - farm hand

And a new character:

Judge Richard Ranquist (retired) - former judge

Two people were not able to join us from last year. Their characters were:

Father Gerald Webber - priest
Stephanos Covenant - Detective with the Pinkerton Agency

If you want to read the first part of this one, you'll have to scroll down through the journal, as it was played a year ago.

I ran a short game for a single player who wanted to do some research on his house, "Goldengate," in Arkham Saturday. We played for about an hour and I was able to pull out some of the props I've been waiting for him to discover.

The role-playing journal entry can be found here:

http://www.yog-sotho...what=Max_Writer

The character is Elliot Macy, dilettante. The last piece of information he found was actually a full-length pamphlet I made.

The long and last entry for my NW Ohio Call of Cthulhu game can be found here:

http://www.yog-sotho...what=Max_Writer

I ran Momento Mori, the sequel to Dance of Death. This is the last game I'll be running until I can find a new group in N.C.

The characters are:

Professor Beaurigard Johanson: Assistant Professor of Archaeology, Miskatonic University

Chip Mathers: Bounty Hunter

Eliott Macy: Dilettente

Dr. Katie Brooks: Professor of Science, Miskatonic University

Jebediah Hook: Farm Hand/Gardener

Claire Bingham: Prostitute

Verity McCleod: Nurse

-- NPCs --

Henry Walker: Macy's Butler

Lin Chow: Macy's Cook (Tcho-Tcho)

It was a good last session with a strange ending. Kind of a nice way to end the NW Ohio group.

Thanks to everyone who's been reading these. I'll write again when I get another group to Keeper for.

Since I've moved to NC, I no longer have a regular gaming group. However, I was able to run an original scenario at the Mid-Atlantic Convention Expo in High Point last weekend (despite this broken heart). I ran the scenario twice, the second building upon what happened in the first (as you shall see). They are in my journal under Phantom of Wilson Creek 1, 1.5, 2, and 2.5. They can be found here:

http://www.yog-sotho...what=Max_Writer

The first group (run Friday night) consisted of:

Dr. Joseph Abington, Professor of Anthropology at Boston University

Alexander Reed, accountant

Mary Weatherly, Reed's secretary

Dr. Frederick Munn, physician

Christopher "Chip" Nelson, graduate student in Anthropology, Boston University

The second group ran through this on Sunday morning. They consisted of:

Alexander Talbot, private eye (hired by an Abington through an attorney)

Andrew Hastings, psychiatrist

It was a lot of fun, both groups did well, and it was nice to get my mind off my problems for a while.

I'm not yet running another campaign but got to play in one this past weekend. The journal entry can be found here:

http://www.yog-sotho...what=Max_Writer

It's the most recent and Entitled "Eric's WWI Game - Rescued!"

The game takes place in 1918 during the Great War. My character is Captain Christopher Reed, a medical doctor with the Allies. Other characters include:

Nurse Felicity Alders

Lieutenant Anton Kemps

Private Harold Olver

Corporal William Grimm

Jean Pierre Valois

I hope everyone will excuse the use of the words "colored," "negro," and "boy" when referring to the black npc/former pc who was imprisoned with my character. It is written to reflect the dialect and mentality of the time and does not indicate any racism on my part or the part of any of the players.
