Greetings

New York 1933. Col Percy Fawcett, lost in the jungles of Brazil in 1925 while searching for the Lost City of Z, has returned. He has no memory of where he has been in the intervening years.

In fact, he has been all over the world, sampling the delights of human civilisation Or rather, his body has, while being piloted by a Yithian.

His player, needless to say, has no idea that this is what happened.

I will introduce clues gradually in amongst other scenarios. He has already (briefly) encountered a member of the IOOL and will on occasion bump into people his alter ego met.

Research about similar memory loss will eventually bring to light a newspaper article about Prof Peaslee (from the HPLHS audio of Shadow Out of Time)

Plus he has been having nightmares about massive libraries with metal books.

So, a couple of questions for the assembled Keepers;

What Yithian related scenarios (of any time period) are out there? (I know of Bad Moon Rising and the one in Terror Australis)

How have others handled Yithian-possessed characters?

Any ideas much welcomed!

One in Atomic Cthulhu but many have reference with yithian as the valley of the four shrines in Fragments of Fear.

With Yithian-possessed characters the first thing is the idea of manipulative patrons of the player OR of cultists.

If you have the scenario template, I'd love to have look at it. Did it go well? I plan to run a similar Yithian-related scenario as well. :D

Age of Cthulhu Vol. VII: Timeless Sands of India, authored by Jon Hook and published by Goodman Games involves a Yithian agent.

There is a good Mythos novel by Dennis Detwiller called "Denied to the enemy". If you have the time I would suggest you to read it.

There's an old Yithian base in Secrets of San Francisco

and the final scenario in "End of the World" features a Yithian, though it's not yith-themed.

and don't forget the Hideous Creatures supplement about Yithians

For non CoC Mythos gaming...

I found it interesting that Trail of Cthulhu's Castle Bravo involved exampled of the pre-Yithian cone beings

Macabre Tales's Other Side of the Mirror also features Yithians

Masks of Nyarlathotep has a Yithian scenario in Australia.

During MoN, I ruled that a PC became Yithian possessed after a critical spell failure in Kenya. This went away after handling a Yithian device in a warehouse in Australia.
