I'm trying to get a sense of which editions are out there of the MoNC, and how many copies were printed of them.

  • Black Pharaoh edition. 'Unlimited', but how many were made in both soft- and hardback?
  • Bloody Tongue edition. Limited, hardback only, but how many copies?
  • Sand Bat edition. Limited to 150 copies, hardback, made for and sold by Chaosium.

As far as I can tell, they will explicitly not be reprinted, is that correct?

I suggest a check on the numbers buying in to the Kickstarter would give you a rough total number for Black Pharaoh and Bloody Tongue editions but not the split as plenty of people switched during the period between funding and delivery.

Just checked 771 backers, 11@$1 no copies. 15@$15 pdf only, 309@$30 softback, 203@$60 hardback 95@$65 limited edition Bloody Tongue hardback. Roughly 760 hard and soft copies plus any that switched from pdf and or no copy.

Good thinking. So that leaves the total amount of copies around 1000 or so.

The Dark Pharaoh is the limited hardback edition. The Bloody Tongue is the unlimited edition- produced in both soft and hardback I believe. The names were changed in the middle of the whole thing. It was somewhat confusing.

Backers could buy multiple copies, so that creates some (small?) increase. In addition to just flat out changing a pledge level, at the fulfillment stage, softcover backers were given an upgrade option, in order to receive their books faster. And there is a separate contributors edition.

I would ESTIMATE something like 250 softcover, 250 hardcover, 100 limited hardcover, 150 Chaosium hardcover, and 50 contributors, but unless Adam wants to tell us exactly, we won't know most of the levels. Chaosium is known and the limited hardcover should be known once the signed bookplates arrive at some point.

So the Sand Bat edition would be the rarest edition of them all, it seems like.

There were also some printer proofs of the current version and the 0.9 edition.

Does it have a picture of a Pharaoh's mask on the cover? It's a Black Pharaoh (or Contributor's) edition. If it doesn't, it isn't. Simple.

I have an advance print copy, it has an embossed seal of YSDC on the first page, which has been signed by Pookie aka Matthew Pook, Assistant Editor. On the second page it has a note from PoC 'Advance Print Copy 1/1' with Paul's signature.

It goes up to p566 whereas the Bloody Tongue hardcover goes to p729.
