Finally got to play the Cthulhu version of Pandemic, and it was a blast.

My son had played regular Pandemic, so he had a decent idea on how it all works and that helped us get underway quickly. We goofed up on a few rules and died faster than we were supposed to (I know, there are many ways to die and only one way to win) but set the game up and played again right away. The next day my sister joined in and we played from 3 until 7 or so, always finding new ways to lose. Finally, when we won a game, we called it a night.

We did "cheat" a little by allowing players to pick which characters they wanted instead of the random draw method. We decided after trying some options that if you don't have both the Hunter and Detective characters you are pretty much screwed before you even start.

Really a lot of fun and I hope they come up with some expansions for the game.

This game is surprisingly fun. I was worried it would just be Cthulhu pasted all over Pandemic, but there was some real theme choices and the game has some interesting changes past plain, vanilla Pandemic.

I usually let new player pick whatever investigator they want.   There are a lot of small rules that affect play significantly such as Shuggoth movement and what happens after it arrives at a gate.  Good fun.
