The future is here...

It's time for Secret Shoggoth.

If you want to be involved, please send me a Private Message with the following info:
  • Your name (real and user name)
  • Your address
  • Where you would be willing to ship a gift to – Just your own country, own continent or anywhere. There’s enough people involved that if you don’t want to send something abroad, or can’t afford it, that’s fine.
  • Whether you’re happy to receive a hand-made gift or if it would make you summon a Byakhee in rage.
  • Whether you might make something hand crafted (this isn’t a commitment it’s just that if it’s a possibility I need to know so I don’t match you with someone who doesn’t want that).
  • The address of any wish lists (e.g. Amazon) that you have.
I’ll post in the next message a list of people taking part. Give me three days to get the info up before messaging me again to say you’re not there. I’ll aim to respond to your original PM so you know I’ve got you on my list.

Please sign up by midnight GMT on Friday 13th November, 2014. I will get details to you about your Secret Shoggoth by end of 22nd November – though I’ll aim for sooner. Gifts should be sent by end of Monday 7th December so shop early if you’re sending far away! If there are any problems please message me so I know you haven’t lost your sanity by accidently reading a dusty tome in the second-hand book shop.

Rules are as follows:
  • Gifts must be in the range of $20-25 or £12-15 or so. You can take a chance and get a gift now (which will help with shipping time) but you might run the risk of buying something your Shoggee already has. The decision is yours!
  • Costs of the gift are before shipping.
  • DO NOT JOIN IF YOU WANT A SPECIFIC GIFT. You might not get it.
  • You must message me when you have sent your gift.
  • You must message me when you have received your gift.
  • Post a thank you in the forthcoming “Thank you Secret Shoggoth” thread - even if you don't love it. Let's be polite.
  • You must have been a registered user of the site on the 22nd October, 2015.
The following has been borrowed from CAThompson, seeing as he put it so well:
  • Keep it clean and legal, no shipping booze to kids, guns to Britain or lock picks to Canada. Or midget-shoggoth porn to anyone.
  • Contact me if something goes wrong. Again, the sooner I hear from someone the sooner I can fix things.
  • There’s precious little anyone can do to you if you don’t send a gift. But we're Yoggies and above that kind of thing.
  • The gifts don’t have to have anything to do with Cthulhu.
  • Those who live in far flung and fantastic locations may find it extra good to post a short list of electronic things we lust after. Sites like DriveThruRPG will be happy to get an e-copy of a book to Antarctica much faster than the standard messenger albino penguin.
Finally, it’s worth a post here telling your Secret Shoggoth what you’d like and what you don’t want. No guarantees but it might help!
"I like weird. It's all I've got. That and my sweet style."

Dear Secret Shoggoth, I took a year's respite from your horrific tradition but am tanned, rested and ready to resume the shenanigans. Surprise me. I have most CofC game books already.

Ah, the Secret Shoggoth. It knows when you are sleeping (Not Dead, just dreaming) it knows when They awake. It knows if you've been Good or Bad, so struggle to comprehend the chiaroscuro of shades of morality to beings for whom humanity is barely a blip on their cosmic understanding of the ever malleable time and space, for goodness sake!

Looking forward to it.

Ten years, hasn't the time flown by!

As is traditional here is my Amazon Wishlist http://www.amazon.co...t/2576X5TO5JTXV

This is for general nosiness and to give my Shoggee some ideas :)

Post your wishlists too so I can have a shufti at them!

Due to this very site and a great thread on it, I've been inspired to pick up the Titan reprints of Sax Rohmer's Fu Manchu novels.  My Amazon wish list primarily holds the Manchu novels I've not gotten yet but some other books too: http://www.amazon.co...=topnav_lists_1

I'm excited to be involved in this year's Secret Shoggoth. I just missed out on last years, having only signed up to the site in late October.

Here is my Amazon wishlist - https://www.amazon.c...m_wl_rlist_go_o

The Keepers of the Woods for Trail of Cthulhu is available now - download it here.

Those Within for Call of Cthulhu 7e - coming to a convention near you soon...

Ok I'm in again this year :)

My Amazon (physical items) wishlist is at

http://www.amazon.co...y/103IMK0QQY5D6

Apologies - it is very long! I don't expect anyone to wade through it all.

I also have a RPGNow (PDF) wishlist at

http://www.rpgnow.co...rg&src=wshlstml

I have enormous difficulty reading print now, due to brain damage from a progressive neurological disease, so I wouldn't recommend that you buy me anything with dense text in dead tree format. For recreational reading etc. I mainly use my Kindle. But I love graphic novels, board and card games, and I always like to get more gaming PDFs to add to my iPad to read. I can read game books better on there than conventional print: the iPad lets me zoom in.

But print books without dense text are always welcome. I'd be very happy, for example, to receive a printed book of ghost stories from your area/country, maybe illustrated. Or strange local histories. That always goes down well!

Thanks and best wishes of the season to all.

I'm one of those completists and Kickstarter participants who probably has too much of everything related to Call of Cthulhu.

But keeping that in mind, I am open to all kinds of things related: I received a handmade Cthulhu coffee mug in the past, I've received homemade props, and even a scenario.

I also enjoy books of ghost stories, local history, or anything dealing with your own unique part of the world. As a professional historian and academic, I love learning about new things.

Anything Gaslight-y related is always welcome if you are from Europe.

If you need more ideas, you can always do a quick search for past Secret Shoggoth's and see what is posted there. I don't think I have missed any.

Hopefully I can be in this year, just sent my PM. Anything is fine for me, I have an amazon list and a fair amount of modules. Any of the latest recordings from HPLHS would be most welcome or Black Wings 4! :) Looking forward to Yithmass.

Unfathomable.

I don't think I get to be in the Secret Shoggoth this year, but if I did I would only want hand made stuff!.. Anything I just couldn't go buy myself.
Props would be sweet! Unused postcards from the 20's would be cool.

I am in, and very excited to play a part this year!

For whomever my Shoggoth may be: I don't have a wishlist or anything, so I'll try to give you a few ideas here to make it easier on you. If you want to go Cthulhu-related, I have Tatters of the King, Mansions of Madness, the original Dark Ages, and both of the Investigator Weapons books. Beyond that, nothing much, though my Big Terrifying GM Dice Bag is slightly starting to fall apart, so I'd be just as happy with a big felt sack as with anything else. I am very amenable to hand-made gifts. Otherwise, I am a tea-lover. Good luck in your hunt, O Shoggoth of mine.

I am in this year! I posted earlier, but I forgot that I could not edit the post later and so have deleted and reposted here!

I don't have any particular wishes, but should my Secret Shoggoth wish a starting point, I appreciate handmade gifts, and own almost no Cthulhu-related items (only the 6th ed. rulebook) - both would be very welcomed! I'm glad to be able to participate in what has been a really nice community to be a part of.

I should have mentioned in my earlier post that Cthulhu RPG items will always be appreciated, but my collection is extensive and I mostly play ToC (although CoC items are always interesting!). If you're interested in finding out what I already have, my RPGGeek collection is kept mostly up to date: https://rpggeek.com/...pe=rpgitem&ff=1

Alas! Such a shame I missed the deadline, ending my four year streak with the grand tradition!

Well, I'll be more punctual next year, and am with you in spirit fellow yoggies!
