    Yog Radio #20

Yog Radio #20 is in the can, errrr, I mean has been recorded and just needs editing before release (though as usual, the use of the word "just" should be taken with a grain of salt ).

It's a longer show than the last one (not too difficult there) and Neil is back. We've also got a new piece by Jabonko entitled "The Keeper's Closet" as well as the usual mix of banter, music and keen focus! (OK, I lied about one of those last three...)

I ask your indulgence to please bear with us while I try and work out a pact with the master of Time...

    Cheers!

    Paul

Fantastic! Thanks for your hard work. I eagerly anticipate the next installment. Btw, not to diminish your editing efforts, but I rather thought that your "raw" unedited stuff turned out quite well. Anyway, carry on!

    Yog #20

Gentlemen please don't feel rushed to get Yog #20 on the air. Your work is superb and is always worth waiting for. However, as I am an undead immortal, all my opinions regarding time and how long one might wait for something should be regarded as somewhat relative.

    Cheers,

    Dr. V

Definitely understand time issues, especially nowadays ... my day job is stopping just short of chaining me in my little cube. Not much time for anything, let alone making podcasts.

It'll be done when it's done, and I'll expect it when Juice pulls it down. No worries!

So how do you game for charity? Is it like one of those runs/walks/bike rides where people sponsor gamers per hour? Is there betting on outcomes? Is it a an entry fee type thing?

From what I've seen, at least in the RPGA-style tournaments, you
pay X amount per session to participate, and the proceeds go to
    the designated charity.

As far as Paul's consternation at being compaired to the late Harry
Seacombe (that's SIR Harry to YOU, Mr. Yankee Doodle Dandy!):
For all the overt wackiness of Sellers and Milligan, I've always
thought that Harry's wackiness was always a bit more subtle.
Certainly, he wasn't as over-the-top as either of his Goonish
compatriots, but the fact is that he wasn't truly the straight man
of the group, because he was right in there with all the weirdness
and never thought to seriously question it.

And if that isn't explanation enough, then really the only thing left
    to say is:

    YING TONG IDDLE EYE PO!

MikeC, <*tink of coin in the cup*> Thank you

Great show, and fantastic sound quality. Everyone was in top form, and I particularly enjoyed the focus on forum topics etc that were used. Well done & much appreciated!

Thank you, it's very kind of you to say. We certainly try out best within our means.

We took the step to increase the MP3 quality to 96 Kbps stereo for a couple of reasons. 1) To give justice to Bluejay's wonderful intro music. 2) Because of the site move last year we can afford the bandwidth for this and future projects. 96Kbps is the minimum for full 44.1Khz range stereo, which makes a difference to audio quality. (It's now what we put the Horror on the Orient Express audio game out at.)

We've done it a variety of ways in the past, including auctions, Bake sales (yes, Bake sales) and directly games related - charity 're-rolls' when you want another chance with the dice.

BURPS has been fortunate in raising various amounts of money for charity over the years, anywhere from a few hundred pounds for Children in Need events, though to £4000+ (Hosting the UK Student Nationals a few years ago) to over £1200 a couple of weeks ago for hosting an external Mini-con (thanks to Val - who's plays in the HotOE game).

More information about the BURPS 24 Hour charity event can be gained from emailing: burps24hour@hotmail.co.uk - I will also try and post further information here as I get it. Though it may be worth noting, we don't usually play 24 hours straight, it's normally a variety of games in 4 x 6 hour slots.

People from YSDC, Yog Radio, Masks/HotOE audio games and RPGMP3 will be there, so if you fancy some gaming fun and happen to be in West Yorkshire in Mid-May, come & play for a good cause!
