Snicker...when I was talking to Charlie on the phone earlier, I was expressing concern on the amount of time projects took. He mumbled something about "ten years," and I laughed and asked how Pulp Cthulhu was coming.

It goes well. Just as soon as we have something new, definite, and interesting to tell you, then it will be posted here.

Has Chaosium actually undertaken to publish the completed work? A key point, I suspect.

I hope they have. I, too, am looking to run Masks soon and obviously this would be a great resource.

Did we ever find out if Chaosium have undertaken to publish this product as a Monograph? If not, how will we be able to get a copy once it is completed?

As WinstonP stated back in September, "...there is no news about how it will see material form (and hence no option to pre-order, etc.), no change."

That said, rest assured that the Masks of Nyarlathotep Companion will see publication. At the very least it will be available in digital format, but just as you all do, those of working on it want to see it in print too.

Just a crazy idea, as I know there are machinations behind the scenes and all, but...

Any thoughts to a Kickstarter to get this into a hard copy? Getting the cash up front might be the key method to bringing a book into this world..................

I have not heard anything that suggests that lack of cash funding is contributing to the difficulty of finishing the project. Though if it were, Kickstarter is a fine idea. (Funny, moments before reading your post, I was submitting a proposal for a conference talk... about Kickstarter.)

"Machinations" would suggest that something sinister is going on. This could not be further from the truth. The Masks of Nyarlathotep Companion is undergoing layout and final proofing -- nothing more.

Yes, Kickstarter is a fine idea. I have purchased several games that way.

With regard to the Masks of Nyarlathotep Companion, money is not the issue and never has been. Nor has there ever been a serious discussion about money with regard to any aspect of the project. As has been said before, the aim at this point is purely to have a completed manuscript ready before we discuss how and in what format the book appears.

In the meantime, as soon as there is news to tell you, WinstonP will be posting here.

BTW: in case it is useful in summarizing all the many, many snippets of information sprinkled through this epic thread ... I have created a CthulhuWiki page for the Masks Companion. It has a lot of this info compiled into the one location. You can find the Wiki page at: http://www.yog-sothoth.com/wiki/inde...otep_Companion

If anybody wants to update the Wiki page with further info ... please do!

Very useful, thank you. You should also list Bret and myself as the editors though.
