On another discussion about expectations and differences between gaming styles, an interesting point was raised about the difference between gaming with people you know well and with people you may have met through a listing on the web or at a game store.

Do you find that rounding up players or games via the web or the gaming store to be a viable way of forming a campaign-ready group of gamers? Or are you still wandering lost in Kadath without a group?

For myself, it's been very helpful to organizing a group of players, but usually I have a core group of old friends, supplemented by others online. For some reason, and maybe it's just where I live, interest in answering ads for a BRP Call of Cthulhu game has been relatively tepid.
