    Sarnath

We all (I assume) know about Sarnath and the Doom that came to it right?

If this were a CoC game, Dubya's last name would be Jermyne (intentional misspelling).

    A Tale of Two Cities

It's a Tale of Two Cities. The contemporary Sarnath is a Buddhist holy site. The HPL Sarnath exists in the Dreamlands.

Many pulp writers used real names in their stories. Robert E. Howard for example. Sarnath is a very good name for that city by the way. It's easy to remember and sounds mysterious.

And, you can pronounce it. Every time something like R'lyeh comes up at the gaming table we have a short, fast-paced "discussion" over the thing.
