    cool

sounds good that i'm on the right track.

i have to admit that i'm a big fan of the silent hill series aswell and i love its whole style of horror, the aberations that are nothing but obscene abominations aka the aberations and the dark alternate realities that are nothing short of screwed up in the head...

un explianable things that happen for reasons you dont know, things that confuse and decieve . and just play with your head.

i love it. none of this slasher horror

psycological horror and gothic horror fear of the unknown anyday. honestly i have been considering buying the CoC rpg for years but kept putting it off for some reason.
    but now i've done it

Its not horror, Its Mythos. But you guys probably didn't have the luxury of having a parent(s) who like Lovecraft. So we'll just cut off your right hand, and sacrafice you to Nyartholemtep. Nothing too harsh.

Kiyohira, don't corrupt the poor newbie! Not in D20 any way.... But really, Necromite, play "Normal" CoC (not normal-normal, but normal as in not D20)

and why pray tell is that the case?

D20 is about 70 times more complicated and it really lacks the whole CoC experience! Not to mention, D20 is all but dead, burried, brought back to life and shot in the head with a shotgun.

Well, the only two things that BRP has that D20 doesn't are more material (of course, you can convert it into D20 stats, it just takes longer), and that it handles damage more realisticly.

    F'thagn!

    What ever!

well, i've been using d20 for over 5 years, i like how it works for CoC when i have the money i'll check out the BRP but that could be a while i'm a bit tight right now. and i dont mind the idea of the campaign being a little more pulp like. since alot of brp players say the d20 version isnt as deadly as the brp and from what i've said i agree.

    thoughts?

Now, now, now... Don't scare off the D20 players. There was a complaint in the not so distant past from a D20 player who felt that they were less than welcome due to their choice in system, and haven't posted here recently.
It is like we say over in Traveller: "The setting is the game, not the system"

And just for the record: dedicated BRP player for 24 years and counting...

    Your absolutly right,

My cthulhu is just as good as anyones cthulhu, just becuase i use a different system dont mean that my games are of less quality :P

i will be running a PBP game shortly on a forum that i moderate the RPG section of when its ready i'll announce it and see if anyone here wants to play, if thats ok that is.....

    It's still "Call of Cthulhu"

I love all of my children equally, so the saying goes:

    BRP
    D20
with not one, but TWO EVIL TWINS locked in the attic...
    GURPS (CthulhuPunk)
    and soon CthulhuTech

I agree that D20 isn't a system for me that works for a horror based game, however the "we hate D20" thing has been done to death here on the Forum - let it go guys !!!

Hi Necromite - welcome to Yog-Sothoth. I hope you run some great Cthulhu, no matter what system you choose.
Richard: Door, don't do it, don't set it free - we don't matter!
Marquis de Carabas: Actually I matter very much, but I have to agree - don't do it.
    NEVERWHERE.

I don't think we've reached flamewar. But, I think we're long past the point where the d20 v BRP debate has any merit and we Mods like to keep it off this forum.

Play the game any way you like, and celebrate that, but don't disparage it being played some other way.

Now, back on topic, hi Daniel! I hope you enjoy hanging out here.
