tremulus: A Storytelling Game of Lovecraftian Horror

    Hello All,

I'm at it again, this time working on a game of Lovecraftian Horror base on the Apocalypse World Engine. It is currently in playtesting and I'd like to present that opportunity to some of you to try it with your own groups.

    Interested? Click here for details.

If you'd like to see what it's about: check out Stargazer's World Actual Playtest Report or the Reality Blurs website for news on its development.

I'll be conducting a playtest tomorrow night at 8pm EST via Skype. Interested parties should email tremulus@realityblurs.com with subject header Tuesday Playtest.

    Best regards,

    Sean

    Hey Paul & Sean,
I had mis-posted this reply earlier today. I had intended to post it in the "suggestions for pick up and play perhaps with Cthulhu overtones" thread, but posted in a different thread that made no sense at all :^/

Sorry for the confusion, I wanted to give "nickedwards" a heads up to a game he should look out for. I know I'm pretty excited about it. Keep us posted Sean!
    Current Games:
Realms of Cthulhu - Masks of Nyarlathotep (player)
    Homebrew\Shadows of YS (Keeper)

    Hi!

    Thanks, Straygeologist!

Tonight's playtest is full. However, if you're interested in playtesting with your group, or possibly in a game I'm running next week, hit me up.

    Best,

    Sean

Well, I had the pleasure of playing this last Wednesday. I am really impressed. This is a very different game than the ones we are used to play and I think it comes as a welcome addition to our Cthulhu games. What makes it special? The fact that you can sit down with your friends with no previous planing and start playing a really dense and story rich scenario made by asking some questions to the group. I was NOT expecting this, seriously, I had a blast playing an almost four hrs session full of mystery and investigation. Tremulus has a strong Lovecraftian feel to it, one that is found on the purist scenarios only.

One of the things that impressed me the most, is the fact that the character sheet contains also all the rules you need to play your character, making the game extremely easy to pick up, even for people new to the roleplaying. I think this will become the Fiasco of Lovecraft fans. Another high point is the fact that you can generate so many scenarios based on questions that you ask your players, for example, I read a test report of this game that was completely different to the scenario we played, even though it was based on the same ruleset and same dynamic: ask the players some questions of what they will like to find in the scenario.

This will come as a fundraiser soon, I will participate on this one for sure, I want to go back to that town and explore its dirty secrets.

Thanks, Sean, for letting me be part of this. You have my money on this one.

[Reality Blurs]tremulus: a storytelling game of lovecraftian horror

    Hello All,

tremulus is a pick up and play storytelling game of Lovecraftian horror based on Vince Baker's Apocalypse World Engine. We launched the Kickstarter this morning, and thought it may well be of interest to some of you fine folks here.

You can check out the Kickstarter here---> http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/...craftian-horro

And we launched our first Razorwise Report podcast where we talk about some of the nuts and bolts of the system in greater detail: http://realityblurs.com/RWR/RWR_EP1.mp3

I had the pleasure to playtest this setting during a 4 hr session, and the concept and the game completely went over my expectations, this is the game to go to when you you want to take your friends to a nightmare tour with little planning. Playing it reminded me a lot of Twin Peaks.

I am backing this since this morning. Check it out guys, you have my word that you won't be dissapointed.

I enjoyed Apocalypse World so I'm backing this too. I'm intrigued to find out how the players having control of the direction of play takes Mythos gaming.

I'm confused on something with this...are the playbooks going to be part of the hard/soft cover book or are they only in PDF format?

Playbooks are basically character sheets so probably best in PDF.

Does this affect Echo of Dead Leaves?

I've not played Apocalypse World, or indeed any of these new-fangled story games, but they intrigue me and tremulus sounds just my cup of tea, so I've pledged! Good luck Sean.

Not at all. Echo of Dead Leaves has been written (yay!) and is in the hands of editorial staff. I'm certain I'll have to give it another pass to polish it up, but we'll talk more about that after the first of the year in detail. My hope is to refine with some of the finer points of it this fall, so it's just right.

Thanks for your interest and support. Hmmmm. That sounds a tad impersonal. How about this? Woohoo! Thanks for giving this a go, Zarozinia! If you've played any traditional roleplaying game and have done even the slightest bit of running a game on the fly, you'll have no problems whatsoever. It is designed with both the entry level non-gamer, folks new to storytelling games, and old hands. There are lots of examples and reference sheets in the like to make it as accommodating as possible.

    Best,

    Sean
