Check out the player directory, there should be lots of folks in your neck of the woods. I seem to recall that there is a pretty good game store in Mt. Prospect that carries a good line of role playing, and has a good crowd of all sorts of gamers at the tables.

Also, though this may not be of immediate use to you, since it is a long drive, but, if you ever do find yourself across the river in Iowa, let me know; I run a game every other week at Iowa State University, and you would be welcome to sit in.
