The Dark Conquerors (of 14000 AD)

The main idea is described here

However, to summarize, the army of a a prince from one of the Human refugee kingdoms in the Dreamlands comes back to earth (basically as human disney-red-martians) to assist the Deep Ones with a war against a frightening new enemy, the so called "Dark Conquerors" (some hints from Acheronian sorcery, some from Marvel-movie-verse Chitauri).

Now, the Deep Ones rule and Cthulhu is awake, so multiple avenues can be taken in such a setting. For Horror, one could say that unlike their prince, Korpu, his men weren't raised by a nanny who was a MASK, and thus are fully vulnerable to Cthulhu's psychic echos. The longer they stay to fight, the worse they get and the more turn their weapons on themselves rather than damage their cause. But one could also run it as a planetary-romance-without-the-romance, with great battles against horrible foes and mysterious origins. Even classic pulp could lend a hand as spies try to find the origins of this invasion and weaknesses of their foes.

Or you could scrap all that and just use the setting the way you see fit.

    I was thinking... Ghouls.

I haven't read Pickmans model yet (I really should) but after the absorption or self destruction of whatever pure human remnants were left on earth, they could (more or less) rule the land while the Deep Ones ruled the sea, hunting (or tending livestock) by the midnight moon while feasting, singing and philosophizing in underground halls during the day.

This Thread gave me a few clues.

Their settlements could actually be the first targets for the dark conquerors and an initial source of abductions for war-sacrifice. That's some horror right there.

Got some art of the Dreamlands Kingdom up.

I tried to contrast the bounty of the flatlands with the chilly mist, snow and cloud on the plateau. Also, the bank of cloud moving down the mountains on the right carries the portent of potential doom... but a doom that has been faced every year for millenia.

    Climactic battle.

For this campaign, the cities at the magnetic poles mentioned in "The Dunwich Horror", labelled as Yr and Nhhngr by default, could be used as a pivotal battle for control of the Earth with the Deep Ones and dreamland humans on one side and the Dark Conquerors on the other.
