Suggestions for pick up and play game, perhaps with Cthulhu overtones?

Tomorrow I am going to the local games shop and plan to buy a game to while away an evenings drinking in nearby pub. I'd like a recommendation for a tabletop game, cards, whatever that is easy to pick up and preferably has a roleplaying/cthulhu tone to it. So muchkin cthulhu would work but i've got that already. any ideas?

You could go for Elder Sign or the Call of Cthulhu LCG.

Or for no money at all, print-off a copy of the Cthulhu Dark rules, bring some dice, (since it's doubtful that others in the pub will be packing dice), and run a fast and loose rpg around a table of beers.

The RPG called Monkey is fun and uses cards instead of dice, not a dark game but great fun, invokes childhood memories of the TV program.
The static in my mind, leaves me hollow and unkind.

Not Cthulhu related but I just played a game of Blood Bowl: Team Manager and think it is a highly entertaining game that would be perfect with pub buddies.
If you have enough space to deploy it of course (not that it is that big, just that those round pub tables can be awfully small sometime).

Cthulhu Dice is quick, easy, fun and very portable. You could use bar snacks or beer mats instead of the "sanity marbles" if you're worried about these going astray.
Why not visit (and, for the love of Dagon, comment on) Nightmares in Norfolk, the increasingly surreal Shadows of Yog-Sothoth campaign journal

You'd probably not want to bring Arkham Horror.

Cthulhu Gloom would work well (it's all cards, no fiddly bits), or Chez Cthulhu (a variant of Chez Geek). Perhaps The Stars Are Right!, though i've never played it.

Isn't there a card game about shoggoths or something?

Thanks for these suggestions. In the end we bought a card game which was based on nightmares (i forget the name and its already lost amongst the everyday chaos) and pretty good in a 'we are kind of playing the rules of happy families but pretending its grown up'. There are great ideas for next time!

Cthulhu Gloom (or regular Gloom) is probably the best suggestion here, for the pub at least. I can just imagine some drinking game variants now as well.
Mostly think this one would work best because it uses only cards and to be honest, it doesn't require you to do much more than tell a story.
In fact, Will Wheaton featured Gloom on Table Top. So that will give you an idea
of what the game is like and how much fun it is.

Keep an eye out for "tremulus" from RealityBlurs. It'll be coming up as a kickstarter later this year. The guys from RB are working up a game that'll be something like a pick up and play cooperative storytelling game about lovecraftian horror. Looks pretty awesome from what I've read. Might just be the product you've been looking for?

Non-cthulhu - 7 Wonders is ace and is pretty portable.
