H.P. Lovecraft in Pop Culture at San Diego Comic Con 2012

I will be moderating a panel about Lovecraft in pop culture at San Diego Comic Con on Thursday, July 12, from 8pm to 9pm in room 9.

Guests are scheduled to be Brian Callahan, organizer of the Portland H.P. Lovecraft Film Festival®, Michael Alan Nelson, creator of the Fall of Cthulhu comic series, Mars Homeworld, Lovecraft-inspired musician and filmmaker, and Phil Kim, editor of Famous Monsters of Filmland (more guests TBD). We'll be talking about showing some of the latest creations from our favorite sanity-draining author. We might even be giving some things away.

    Awesome, thank you!

You captured my natural demonic essence!

I hope the panel was enjoyable, it was fun to do, and I wish we had more time for questions. I had so much to show off, and so much to give away.

If only it was within my power...but I think they will have it next year. So unless Aaron, in his infinite wisdom, is willing to grant you a place it would be wise to get tickets for next year because I think they are doing it every year. BTW It was a packed audience and they had nifty schwag for contest.

The only way I'd get on that panel is if I took out Goodfellow, as no one fills the "Lovecraftian writer type" slot better than he does in SoCal.

Either that, or bribe Aaron at the upcoming HPL FF LA 2012 in September.

Actually, taking out Goodfellow sounds like a hell of a lot more fun.

I'm glad to hear that it was a packed house for the 'Craftian panel. That makes me extremely, extremely happy.

Well there is that but IMHO I feel there is lots of bleed over and you do cover aspects of pop culture that could add depth to the panel as a upcoming writer. Just saying. Aaron has the movie angle, Cody for literary/RPG, Mars Homeworld (Dead House Music) for music, Brian Callahan of Arkham Bazaar for miscellaneous and a publisher of cthulhu-esque Fall of Cthulhu comics Michael Alan Nelson.

    I'm convinced!

Thanks for the supportive words, Skyman. I'll speak to Aaron and see where it takes us.

No problem. You should really pay attention to your profile in the 'about me' section. That alone is a good selling point. You can talk about working with various publishers(Miskatonic Press, Eschantology...ect) and their reception of your work. Stuff like that. Just be careful not to have your essential salts consumed on top of in-n-out fries because Aarons got that Demon possession/Avatar of Nylarthotep thing going, just saying.

    Good luck

Thanks, Skyman. Your idea has born fruit, as Aaron added me to the panel for Comic Con 2013. Should be super fun.

Also, I need to update that "About Me." Didn't think anyone read that. Thanks for the reminder!
