Yes, inquiring minds would like to point out that it is Early August. Which comes after the aforementioned Late July....

Please pm me if you would like to be a judge. My cancer treatment really knocked things back. However, I am going to be able to pay all entries the winning amount...I.e. all first place prizes.

How familiar with Cthulhu Dark do judges need to be? I've read it, but only played it once. Also, is playtesting mandatory? It would be entirely reasonable if so, but I don't know that I have enough time if it is.

It is now October and no more word. That is disappointing...

I really hope jtbullet is doing OK.

Hello all -- has anyone received word from jtbullet about his (her?) health?

Of course, we're all hoping for the best and our thoughts go out to you if you're struggling in any way.

    So...what should we do, folks?

Absent a response, I'm going to open discussion about what to do next, here.

I'm sure those who submitted work to the contest feel much as I do -- disappointed about delays but also concerned about the health of the contest-runner. Obviously, jtbullet's health is the greatest concern. But this situation has also placed a lot of scenario writers' hard work in an uncomfortable limbo.

Is there anyone out there who could take up the mantle of coordination on this contest? It would require access to jtbullet's files and whatever preliminary work has been done on the Kickstarter.

With no successor in the contest, I suppose the obvious way forward is to formally declare this year's contest a wash, and free up submitted work for entrants to use as they wish. No matter the reason, I think anyone would have a right to do so at this point since we haven't received an update since August.

Another suggestion would be to somehow run this thing without jtbullet, which might mean calling for people to re-submit work and start from scratch, and to name the same charity as beneficiary in a new Kickstarter campaign.

Anyone out there feel like taking this on?

For my part, if the contest is on indefinite hold, I would really like the chance to take back the contest submission and look for another way to bring the work into the daylight. Should health return to jtbullet and another opportunity arise in the future, I'd be interested in submitting something new to that endeavor.

    What say you all?

I suspect that the right person to ask is GrahamW. If anyone has heard anything more, it would probably be him.

There is, in fact, nothing to report. Graham was not really involved on the organizing level, just in giving support to use the Cthulhu Dark rules.

Folks, at this point I feel we've done all that can be done. As far as I'm concerned, we have to consider the contest to be on indefinite hiatus, and that last year's submissions should be free to find new homes. I'd love to see another contest pop up. If someone were to launch a new one, I suspect they'd have a bunch of good submissions to work with. For my part, it has given me time to do more playtesting and revise the submitted draft. I'd personally like to see more published material written specifically for Cthulhu Dark. I'm in no position to take this on myself, but if anyone out there has an inkling to do so, it would likely be worthwhile.

Please do keep a good thought about jtbullet. We know from this thread that she was very sick, and can only hope that her absence means that all of her attention has been on a fight for recovery. I know we all hope for the best outcome.
