    Huitloxopetl

    Hi,

I've come to know of a round robin story titled Huitloxopetl. It's mentioned everywhere and copied-and-pasted in a great number of urls, but I can't find it anywhere. I only know it's composed of 16 chapters (or more?).

    Is it available online?

If not, what is it about? Does it introduces new mythos entities (Great Old Ones, Gods, what?) ?

    Thanks

Sorry for thread bump, isn't really Huitloxopetl available in the net anymore?

    Casually I've found this

    http://nexus30.tripod.com/berglund.htm

And as far as I can get, it is someobe related to Azathoth (likely an Outer God) and is imprisoned in Sygroth (a dimension? a dark realm?)

    Got more details?

It appears to have started out as a mailing with the Esoteric Order of Dagon Amateur Press Association (and are distinct from the Huitloxopetl fanzine), and most of the titles are either not on the internet or lurking in fear from my all-seeing gaze. It looks like there were long gaps (like, years or decades) between certain parts. According to The Reader's Guide to the Cthulhu Mythos and A Cthulhu Mythos Bibliography & Concordance the chapters are:

    01. "Huitloxopetl" by Meade Frierson III, EOD Mailing No. 1, The Unnameable #1 (1973)
    02. "Boligee" by Joe Moudry, EOD Mailing No. 6, The Arkham Anchorite #1 (1974)
    03. "Vision of Madness" by E. P. Berglund, EOD Mailing No. 8, From the Dark Spaces #2 (1974)
    04. "Painting of the Damned" by Crispin Burnham, EOD Mailing No. 11, Dark Messenger #4 (1975)
05-08. Can't find titles, but may also be by Crispin Burnham
    09. "Pickman's God" by James Ambuehl, http://www.toddalan.com/~berglund/huit09.html (dead link) (1997), Dark Legacy #1 (199
    10. "The U-2512" by Ricardo Madeira, http://www.toddalan.com/~berglund/huit10.html (dead link) (1997)
    11. "The Ripening of Huitloxopetl" by Ian Davey, http://www.toddalan.com/~berglund/huit11.html (dead link) (1997)
    12. "Plagued by Dreams" by Laurence J. Cornford, http://www.toddalan.com/~berglund/huit12.html (dead link) (1997)
    13. "A Visitor from Outside" by Peter A. Worthy, http://www.toddalan.com/~berglund/huit13.html (dead link) (1997)
    14. "An Urgent Pilgrimage" by Peter F. Guenther, http://www.toddalan.com/~berglund/huit14.html (dead link) (1997)
    15. "The Transition of Miguel Quocha" by Luis G. Abbadié, link (1997)
    16. "Awakening" by Gabriel Benitez and Laura Michel, http://www.toddalan.com/~berglund/huit16.html (dead link) (1997)

At lot of the later chapters were on http://www.toddalan.com/~berglund/ however that site was taken down is down and I have not found an archive anywhere. The nexus30.tripod.com site appears to have been associated with Gabriel Benitez, which is probably why the chapter is mirrored there.

The conclusion of the piece has yet to be published - I've got a chapter, and then there's another after mine, at least.

Oh, very interesting. But none seem having a copy of the entire story at all, doesn't it?

    Only Paul Berglund. Maybe.

For some reason I can't put my finger on, I seem to recall some reference to Yig.

Is there any hope to retrieve the complete story and reload it online?

If not, may anyone tell me anything about the plot?

What is exactly Huitloxopetl? Which role has it in the story? And which relationship with Azathoth and the Great Old Ones?

    Thank you in advance.

I, too, was unable to find an extant electronic copy of these, but I did have my printouts from 1997 to refer to. I read a few of them at lunch today. To add to Ancient's information and answer some of Ghoth's questions:

    01. "Huitloxopetl" (broken into "The Paintings" and "The Scientific Approach" for the Berglund reprint) by Meade Frierson III, EOD Mailing No. 1, The Unnameable #1 (1973)
    02. "Boligee" by Joe Moudry, EOD Mailing No. 6, The Arkham Anchorite #1 (1974)
    03. "Vision of Madness" by E. P. Berglund, EOD Mailing No. 8, From the Dark Spaces #2 (October 1974). A revised version was published in Etchings and Odysseys, 1984 (#5). Some quotes:

[From Sorcerie de Demonologie by Count de Hammais]
Dwells He, Huitloxopetl, in the outer vastness of space, the haunter of dreams. SOme say that he is imprisoned under the Elder Sign and some say that he is free since he did not participate in the war with the Elder Gods upon this planet. Little is known about Huitloxopetl, but there are rumors that he is powerful in his influences on dreams. If he is not imprisoned, then the Star-Stones from M'lha may have no effect upon him, if he is truly one of the Great Old Ones.

[From the Kitab Rasul al-Akbarin of Ibn el-Badawi]
From out of the fathomless depths of space and time did the Ancient Ones come in aeons immemorial, to wage a titanic power-struggle against the Elder Ones for the dominion over this minor planet. They lost, but did not lose, for they still walk supreme in the spaces we know not. Each was put under the spell of the Elder Sign in that place which is known to them who are sympathetic to their cause. But even now it is known that there is one who is not imprisoned, one who is a haunter of dreams -- Huitloxopetl. He did not come with his brethren, but stayed in his abode in Sygroth, the monster galaxy at the ends of the universe. And because he did not participate, his father, Azathoth, was angry...

    04. "Painting of the Damned" (broken into "The Disappearance of Professor MacDonald", "Lieutenant August Investigates", "Battle with the Undead", and
"The Summons from the Painting" for the Berglund reprint) by Crispin Burnham, EOD Mailing No. 11, The Dark Messenger #4 (Lammas 1975)

Because of the breaking up of some of the reprints, the original material written for the Berglund site now begins its numbering with part 9.

More to come, as I get a chance to re-read the stories.
