Glad to hear that the hot-off-the-presses char sheet worked ok ... and I hope that the players got to see at least a sample copy of it in it's full-colour form.

I'm also hoping that at least one of the Yoggie players in Matt's games posts their impressions of the Colonial setting here -- despite having designed the sheet, I still haven't read a copy of the book itself, so I am very curious to know how it plays!

Shivers, I guess I didn't figure out which player you were, Azkiel was a bit easy to figure out

That always seems like a better time to play a Call of Cthulhu game then from 10am-2pm when the sun is streaming through the windows. But I'd also like to go out in the evening too...I'll have to think about what to do next year.

I think it worked out well as a public introduction to Sixtystone Press' Colonial Cthulhu and Dean's spectacular character sheets. I'd love to hear how the other games went since I managed not to be able to play a single game this year and bought way to much in the dealer's hall, once again.

Look for another Colonial Cthulhu session or two, and the introduction of a Wild West themed game: "Hey Little Doggies, it's a Mi-Go Rodeo" This time with a GM in Western attire! All coming to GenCon 2013.

Thanks for running a great game, Matt. Your ability to add a lot of detail and descriptions, people, and habits of the era really helped draw me into the setting. We had a pretty good group of roleplayers, the reverend really set the stage early in the scenario.

The scenario was exactly what I was looking for in a traditional horror story, unlike a lot of the other games I participated in at GC. I look forward to the Colonial book.

Dean, the character sheets looked great.

    Thanks,

Did anyone else get to play in the Unsanctified Temples game? I wasn't able to hang around after the session's time ran out after my character died. I am curious how it ended.

Still recovering from the con. I think it's just as well no one took me up on the offer to run Bookhounds Fiasco.

"Hysteria" was great fun, and choosing the person to advance was easy, as there was only one of us who had that time slot free. We all suffered fates worse than death. Far, far worse.

"The Stars Have Fallen" was lovely and grim. To our surprise, everyone survived, more or less sane enough to function, and in a somewhat better situation than they'd started in. Well, except for having angered an Outer God, and none of them knew that they'd done this. Ignorance is truly bliss.

I had a bad experience at the GenCon unfortunately. In short, Gen Con authorities shut down our CoC game because the GM didn't have his badge on him.

We were about 1.25 hours into a 4 hour slot when the Gen Con folks showed up. He got into a heated argument with the GM about not having his badge.

Now I know there have to be rules, but it turns out that the Gen Con guy had CHECKED IN THE SAME GM THE PREVIOUS DAY! So he knew he was legit. The GM was also part of a premier group that runs events each year.

After someone further up the chain at Gen Con showed up, they shut down the game and then issued refunds. "A rule is a rule" is about all they had to say.

They managed to create that unique situation where everyone loses:

: The GM loses b/c he doesn't get to run his event
: The players lose because they don't get to play an event the probably worked hard to get into
: Gen Con loses b/c most everyone involved is mad at them

    Sheesh . . .

My other CoC session was fab though.

The fear, as I understand it, is not that the GM didn't have a badge, but that someone else might be using that badge. (Not saying that this wasn't a bad application of the rule, just that there exists a chain of logic that isn't completely insane.)

Thanks to Mike for running the Hoosac Horror - he did a wonderful job of bringing a bunch of NPCs to life.

I ran my wild west game twice (How the West was Lost) and Blackwater Creek once (1920s gangsters) - thanks to everyone who played in those games. If any of you are on here I'd be happy to hear your reactions to the 7th ed rules and how they worked for you as a player.

Thanks all for a great first Gencon and good to meet Lisa, Gladius and Thom (among others) on the Wednesday night meet at the RAM.

    Hi all,

Lammomedes' game were really fun, especially the Thursday evening Hood Women! We really had a great group of roleplayers.

I'll definitively try to book some games with you next year, actually you should run a private game for us next year

And gladius if you organize another YSDC meeting next year, count me in! By the way if you can't post the group's picture, would you mind send it to me (azkiel at gmail.com)? And I hope that baby blood was tasty!

Great time at Indy this year from meeting all my friends and making new ones, playing some neat games and the little matter of this, Paula's Gold Ennie.

And congrats to Stuart Boon, Graham Walmsley, Ken Hite, Chaosium and any other Lovecraftian auteurs I may have forgotten in my jet-lag addled state.

Matt, Thank you for playing. I am glad you had a good time.
Dean, I showed them the color one in all of its glorious nature. It was well received by one and all and if my budget stretched to color sheets, I would have presented them to the group.

Azkiel, I'll certainly have to consider running a private game for some of those who showed up this year and played. Maybe I'll start a new tradition.
On a side note, I really want to make the YSDC meet and greet next year.

In each running of The Hooded Woman one of the characters failed their sanity roll, made their idea roll, and rolled the same exact insanity: i.e. baby blood and flesh chow time. The players in the 2nd running said I had a sudden shocked look on my face and then followed by joyous rapture when someone repeated the insanity from the first game.

Those are the moments that GenCon are made for.

I concur, Lammomedes showed me the color version and it is gorgeous!

The scenarios were also really fun, maybe Northen Lights was a bit more "difficult" to play due to the military nature of the thing. The whole "giving orders" things is not always easy to pull off around a table... The Hooded Woman was a great introductory scenario, it really set well the tone of the colonial period. A good mix of investigation, social interaction, sanity loss, combat... and baby blood of course!.
