Looking for partner for new CoC game podcast

Hello everyone. I have an idea for a new show to fill the void left when Yog Radio went off the air. There needs be a podcast dedicated to the Call of Cthulhu RPG, and sometimes you have to step up when you don't see anyone else doing it.
What I have in mind is different from what Yog did. I want a show that deals more with explaining the game mechanics, skills, careers, settings, and roleplay options. My intention is to be a tool for Keepers and players to have great games and to help make the game appealing to new players who haven't experienced it before. The fact that this game has been published continuously for 30 years and not be more well regarded by the general gaming community drives me nuts.
I'm looking at about an hour long show, probably every other week. I think that's a pretty realistic goal.
I want to put the show under the umbrella of the D20 Radio Network. That will offer additional listeners as well as offer their ASCAP license so we can play nearly any music we like (Metallica's Call of Ktulu for example). The HP Lovecraft Literary Podcast is already a member of that network, though they choose not to use the network branding or the ASCAP.

I want to call the show the Miskatonic University Podcast, and have different segments that offer different topics of discussion. I'm using the Order 66 podcast as an example of the format I'm going for.

I need a partner for the show so it's not just me talking about these things for the whole time. A show of this nature works best when there are two people discussing the topic and giving different insights. I've been a Keeper for CoC for close to 20 years now, but it would be great to have a co-host that has a different experience level. Maybe even someone who is new to the game or has only ever been a player. Something like that. I'm not going to turn anyone down though if there's enthusiasm for the project.
The recording would be done via Skype, and I'm willing to write most of the show notes, editing & various tech parts. If someone wants to share any of these duties, I'd be thrilled. My wife offered to help with writing articles and do research as well. I'll see if I can talk her into a semi-regular segment about historical eras or something.
If anyone wants to participate by sending in segments, articles, music, etc., that would be very much welcomed.

So that's my spiel. Anyone want to roll San and join me in my insane plan for RPG domination by the forces of the Mythos?

This sounds like a fantastic idea - the one *big* problem I have with rpgs is how inaccessable they can seem, on top of the intimidating size of rulebooks the medium itself can be a bit bewildering. As someone looking to set up a skype group in the future I'd love to listen to a podcast that goes more into the actual practicalities of playing/keeping CoC/ToC. The more material out there the better and it may help attract new players. Alas I can't volunteer my time as a newbie but I'll definitely be looking out for this.

The only other thing I would add is good luck with your venture!

Thank you very much. Trying to explain things to new players is one of my main goals. This is one of the most streamlined games on the market with a ton of flavor and flexibility. I want people talking about CoC and BRP games in general the way they do their other beloved systems.

Damn, this is a great idea. I absolutely want to join you, but my headset and mic are packed in a box in a P.O.D. somewhere. I won't have it back until mid-March when we move into our new house. I could record from my laptop mic, but I'm sure I'll sound tinny and hollow, like I'm in a giant chamber.

Of course, it would also boil down to when we would record. When I used to participate in a comic book podcast, we recorded on Sundays. That's usually when I've got the most available free time.

But, whether I record with you or not, I am stoked to listen to your podcast once you get it up and running.

Excellent show idea, would love to discuss it with you.

This is a great idea. I wouldn't mind talking to you about it more. PM me if you haven't got another person already lined up. I have always been a fan of HPL and CoC but have only been able to be involved in 2 games, both of which I loved. Location and ignorance worked against my gaming groups more than anything and heavily influences the games we play.

I'm so happy to get people who are interested in this project. This is still in the early ideas phase, so it's not like we're recording this next week. Jon, I'd love to have you on board for whatever you want to bring to the show. Nous, I'm sure we can use your viewpoints as well. Many of us here have been playing this game for decades, and someone who has only played a couple of times can help us Old Ones make sure we can cover the stuff that's needed by new players.
Jim and I are going to talk and work out the initial stuff so we have a format and general skeleton to work with. I'll PM you all so we can get communication going on this stuff.

Growing the game is the #1 priority for this as far as I see it right now. There's a solid base of us already buying and playing the game, but we need more people to think of CoC as more than "That game where every session ends in a TPK". I've heard it, you've heard it, and it's just not reality. This kind of thing only happens with players bumble around like it's a "Kill things and take their stuff" game. CoC calls for much smarter play, and BRP needs to be understood better by the gaming populas in general. I would also love to get into some general BRP stuff too, since it is the most versatile system I've yet seen.

I am really excited about this.

I'd thought for a while it'd be a blast to do a podcast, but then I came to my senses: I have neither the time, nor the expertise. That said, are you looking to have guests come on? I know a few people who might be willing to talk on the air...

Once we get this beast up on its mismatched feet and ready to devour the listener-ship, we'll definitely give you a shout!

I'm all for another podcast to listen to while out and about (yes, I do go outside at times).
    Good luck with the project!

Hi there, I'd be keen on helping out in some way. I've often thought about doing a podcast myself (in fact I've even got a demo of The Plain of Sound floating around somewhere on my PC).

Give us a shout (or PM) as to how I can contribute...

    Glad to be of service.

Great to hear such a positive drive, that is what I like about this forum, full of positive, creative and intelligent folk.
Although I'm a huge supporter and Patron of The Silver Lodge and Yog radioness I think your idea is good and needed. If you focus on keeper tips and player advice you will be a helpful resource to many and at the same time free up things more for the Innsmouth House gang to talk about a wider range of things beside roleplay. Will you make it a free podcast?
One man you ought to check out on youtube is DM tips from Sean Conners (Outsiders). He has literally filmed himself in different rooms in the house (often with his kids wandering around in the background) talking about rpg and giving GM advice. Some of it is fun and some of it is very inspired. He's your man for either a co host or special features I reckon.
I've recorded a few things for Yog Radio on rpg in Japan. Really enjoyed doing it. Let me know if you want any reviews, interviews or features recorded I can upload them to a dropbox folder for you. I'm keen to do more for Silver Lodge too but I've said the same to them that I will say to you, you know where i am if you need me.
I've played Call of Cthulhu with gusto since 2004/5. Love it. I've got a new campaign starting this Friday "Spawn of Azathoth". I also play Warhammer Fantasy roleplay (all editions). Would love to help if I can in some way.
I've got another Tsu rpg festival coming up in March (our third big event now) so I can record there for either your show or the Silver Lodge show. Let me know gents.
    Unfathomable.
