Hello everyone. I have an idea for a new show to fill the void left when Yog Radio went off the air. There needs be a podcast dedicated to the Call of Cthulhu RPG, and sometimes you have to step up when you don't see anyone else doing it.
What I have in mind is different from what Yog did. I want a show that deals more with explaining the game mechanics, skills, careers, settings, and roleplay options. My intention is to be a tool for Keepers and players to have great games and to help make the game appealing to new players who haven't experienced it before. The fact that this game has been published continuously for 30 years and not be more well regarded by the general gaming community drives me nuts.
I'm looking at about an hour long show, probably every other week. I think that's a pretty realistic goal.
I want to put the show under the umbrella of the D20 Radio Network. That will offer additional listeners as well as offer their ASCAP license so we can play nearly any music we like (Metallica's Call of Ktulu for example). The HP Lovecraft Literary Podcast is already a member of that network, though they choose not to use the network branding or the ASCAP.
I want to call the show the Miskatonic University Podcast, and have different segments that offer different topics of discussion. I'm using the Order 66 podcast as an example of the format I'm going for.
I need a partner for the show so it's not just me talking about these things for the whole time. A show of this nature works best when there are two people discussing the topic and giving different insights. I've been a Keeper for CoC for close to 20 years now, but it would be great to have a co-host that has a different experience level. Maybe even someone who is new to the game or has only ever been a player. Something like that. I'm not going to turn anyone down though if there's enthusiasm for the project.
The recording would be done via Skype, and I'm willing to write most of the show notes, editing & various tech parts. If someone wants to share any of these duties, I'd be thrilled. My wife offered to help with writing articles and do research as well. I'll see if I can talk her into a semi-regular segment about historical eras or something.
If anyone wants to participate by sending in segments, articles, music, etc., that would be very much welcomed.
So that's my spiel. Anyone want to roll San and join me in my insane plan for RPG domination by the forces of the Mythos?
