    [Delta Green] Updated Countdown?

So hopefully Mr. Glancy can answer this question: does Pagan plan to publish a new, 2012-updated version of the ultra-rare Countdown book?

I'm asking this, because I've been searching for this book for a good 2 years now and I'm growing desperate here... (okay, not really, but you catch my drift). I've bidded for this book on ebay several times (just lost one today and I was willing to fork out 70 euros for it, damn) and no luck. After this latest unsuccessful bid I just asked myself if I was really that crazy paying such insane money for this book, especially in such bad economic times. The madness lifted and I realized that no, I was not, especially if Pagan will republish it anyway in the foreseeable future. So here's hoping for a positive answer to my question!

Also, any status update on the Delta Green RPG?

Aye, I know that but unfortunately I don't speak French. All of those three books look magnificent though.

There are some books that can teach you to "read" french, without having to go throug the trouble of learning how to speak it. I know that there was someone here in the forums that said it worke for him. On the other hand, the Paganistas are planning to re-release them all, but there is no date no that yet.

Yours isn't the first story I've heard like this. I'm lucky enough to know someone who can lend me his copy of Countdown, and it is definitely a great supplement - if he moves away before I'm done with DG, I'm in trouble. Sometimes I wonder just how morally grey it would be for someone like you to mail Pagan the original cost of Countdown in cash and download a pirated copy. It really shows how ridiculous the problem is when the company needs money and has a publication, and the public has money and wants the publication, but they can't be exchanged.

Oh, and please don't misconstrue the above as advocating anything illegal, I'm just pointing out how messed up the situation is.

The problem is that the copies that are on the web are terrible. I would say wait for the release of the Paganistas. They are planning to release the PDFs first.

I guess that my experience is unique. I happened to buy the book online, likely through ebay or Amazon( used) a fewform years back. So I guess I lucked out. All I can say is that we are so fortunate for the option to purchase these books in PDF format today. Hopefully, they'll manage to do a digital conversion soon and llow everyone an opportunity. If you want to ensure that they get around to it someday, I'd imagine that the best thing you can do is support them now by buying their new released titles.

Thanks Wisewolf for the suggestion on the French-learning books. I might start learning French later on, though I'm looking forward to moving to the Netherlands and so I'm spending most of my free time learning Dutch.

I managed to come upon the scanned Countdown, but it's a big no for me. A) It's really terrible as it has already been said, B) Delta Green is my all-time favorite RPG and (save Alien Intelligence) Countdown is the only book missing from my collection and C) I want a dead-tree version of this one because I don't really enjoy reading pdfs.

And yeah, I do support Pagan where ever I can: original Kickstarter on Through The Glass Darkly, bought Targets of Opportunity directly from them and also pre-ordered Bumps in the Night, even though I'm not really playing in the 1920s era. They are a great company and do deserve every last penny I paid them because their books are exceptional.

I managed to get my hands on DG:Countdown, I got mine from www.nobleknight.com. I traded in my Exalted collection to get my hands on that book. In the end, was very well worth the trade since I have read Countdown many times over and rarely touched my Exalted books. If your looking for a copy I would keep an eye on that site. I got several hard to find CoC books from NK including my Beyond the Mountains of Madness book. The only DG book i am currently missing is Alien Intelligence, but with tax season coming up thats number on on my to get list.

Yeah, Noble Knight is great (I got my DG core book and Eyes Only from them) but their prices for Countdown is even more outrageous than e-bay (130-150 bucks, common).

Same prices apply for BtMoM there (although I can't complain on that front: this very weekend I browsed through the Amazon international sites and I stumbled upon and bought an unread BtMoM from German Amazon for $73 including shipping. Couldn't believe my luck. There's still one copy sitting there for 60 euros, although the seller will only ship within Germany).

The gaming store "Outland" in Bergen, Norway, had two copies of "countdown" when I was there in September of last year. I already own it, but I noticed them because I know the book is sought after by many. They have a lot of older CoC stuff there too.
Heres a link to their webstore. Cant see it there, but you could perhaps drop them an email and ask?

I got mine a month ago, from Noble Knight. It was extremely expensive, but I sold a bunch of old RPG rarities at home, and thus I financed the purchase. And I'm extremely happy with it

Yeah, dawnrazor, the plan is kind of the same here, if an updated Countdown doesn't get reissued within say a year. I'm selling several RPGs of mine, since I realized I'm much more into Cthulhu and DG, than anything else.

Still, I wouldn't pay an arm and a leg for it, despite it being the best RPG supplement ever. (Or so I heard.)

    Anyway, here's hoping for a DG-rich 2012!

Behold! This was posted in the DG list
    ------
    Dear Agents & Cultists,

Right now Delta Green: Countdown is in the hands of DriveThruRPG's official book destroyer/scanner who is converting it into a PDF. The folks I had doing the old Pagemaker layout conversions were just moving too slow. Soon it will be ready for upload to DriveThru, along with Delta Green (not the d20 version because that license has lapsed), as well as the Arc Dream produced books Delta Green: Eyes Only and Delta Green: Targets of Opportunity. You'll also find the fiction collections Delta Green: Alien Intelligence and Delta Green: Dark Theatres available as PDFs as well. We're almost ready to launch digital sales. Just have to coordinate with all the authors and artists so that they set up accounts with OneBookShelf and can be paid directly as a percentage of the sales.

Now I know scanned pages are not as clean and nice as layout created PDFs, so I am still working on getting Delta Green: Countdown converted to a modern layout format. When that happens, DriveThruRPG assures me that people who bought the scanned version can update to the layout version... FOR FREE. So don't worry that if you buy immediately that you will be punished because your version is inferior to the later release.

I should note that once these are out, the entire Pagan catalog will follow... so long as I can secure the permission of the authors and artists.
