The Army of the Third Eye Wants You!

    **Spoilers for Delta Green: Countdown**

For some time now I've had a few ideas running through my head for a DG game where the players are members of the Army of the Third Eye.

Essentially, I would want the players to be on the run and living below the radar in the UK. Perhaps they accidentally stumble upon a Shan infestation or a Pisces investigation gone horribly wrong. It leaves them on the run and hiding from their jobs and families. Or maybe one or two of them escape notice. Most of my inspiration comes from reading Grant Morrison's 'The Invisibles' which involves an occult underground fighting against the forces of Law which secretly rule the UK/the world. The members live below the radar in London, though occasionally their cover is blown.

Anyways, my questions are has anyone run a game where the player's are members of the Army? What did they face? How did you get them into investigations? I'm struggling with ways to get them involved in non Shan/Pisces investigations.

Haven't run an AotTE game yet, but here's some thoughts:

AotTE are basically (perceived as) a terrorist organisation. There's lots of good terrorist/counterterrorist/freedom fighter in Britain fiction out there: Spooks and The State Within spring to mind as sources. Just setting themselves up, securing themselves, etc should create a fair few roleplay opportunities.

Depending on how weird you want to go (and The Invisibles is plenty weird) you might find some of the new weird/urban horror fiction useful: China Mieville's stuff (King Rat, Kraken, Un Lun Dun, Looking for Jake); Gaiman's Neverwhere, and its precursors in Arthur Machen and Robert Louis Stevenson.

How far are they willing to go to get rid of the Shan? Would they do a deal with the Real IRA, Al-Muhajiroun, or other terrorist organisations, all of whom would love to bomb the british intelligence/defence/aerospace establishment? What about other Mythos cults who the Shan have stomped on in their monotheist worship of Azathoth? Do the PCs dare play both ends against the middle?

Having once had a Shan in your head sensitises you to their presence. It might also sensitise you to other Mythos threats, psychic powers, Gates, magical emanations, entries to the Dreamlands etc. Good way to lead into new adventures.

Remember that wearing a tinfoil hat really will protect you against Shan brain invasion.

Finally, there's got to be a connection between the Shan and Mad Cow Disease.
Brainstorming DG/COC things without you would be like trying to hunt badgers with a borzoi. - Panchakahq

Yes I ran a long standing Shan, Pisces game that started with the raid on Goatswoodm and played through the 70's, 80's, and 90's. It had to stop when I moved cities, but the players who were by then old school has-been Pisces Agents, had been sent to check out the story of a U.S. Student (leader of the Army, can't recall his name), Shan Pisces Agents had also been sent out to stop the boy who escaped, he went on as his backstory says kidnapping a Shan Pisces Logistics Agent.
They still weren't sure, if the boys story about a fly-thing in his head was true, but they had over the last decade, been drip fed a number of clues, to the point they thought a even more super secret goverment agency, were moving in on Pisces turff.
I ended the game on a cliffhange moment with the agents kicking in the Security door to the Shan's secret computerised file system in a room beneath The Black Library, still trying to stop the Army chap. All they found was a dot-matrix printer and reams of that green and white paper with the words 'The Army of the Third is coming' printed on it and a decreasing number! They woked out that it was a bomb and fled, only just saving themselfs. I left so they could pick which side to follow, though they were leaning towards helping the Army. This story would of go on with them, trying to keep out of the Shans way while helping bring them down, I was going to bring Delta Green in with the Embassy inncident, but I never got round to it due to time running out.
The static in my mind, leaves me hollow and unkind.
