Thread: Welcome, and Introduce Yourself

Hello folks! I'm Maya from California. I'm a longtime Lovecraftiana enthusiast - I carry the complete works around with me on my Kindle *just in case*. I love weird fiction and seek it out in literature, art, movies and video games at all times. I'm a fan of computer games, and someday, eventually, I'll break down and buy an Xbox/Wii or other stand-alone console. I've known about CofC RPG for a while, but I've never met enough enthusiasts willing to play it and so never followed up on it. I could probably scrounge up some geeks at any of our local comic stores, but my experiences with that sort of random crowd haven't left me wanting to try it again. I have dabbled in D&D, Magic: The Gathering, and BattleTech, so I have some fundamental knowledge of RPGs, and at this point I'm feeling like I want to get into some of the Lovecraftian board games/RPGs.

I joined this board to learn more about these games, possibly find online players, and just for the camaraderie in general. I wear my Miskatonic University shirt to work and nobody gets it - it's nice to join a crowd of the like-minded.

Sorry for the late response, but I didn't see this one.

Unluckily, the only thing I have time for here in Romania is for the university. I'm just starting to manage with the languaje, and I don't have enough english level to direct a game. When I finish the exams I'm going to start a Trail game by skype, so probably I'll search something about Transilvania. If I get good results on the investigation, I'll make a post about it. It's difficult, indeed, because almost all the romanian web pages are, well, in romanian. Almost everybody speaks english, but is difficult to find exact and obscure historical details in english. But, well, we'll see.

    PD: Hellow everybody new!

Edit: Having written about this, my curiosity just made me read a little about history of transilvania. I'm reading about people called Agathyrsi who lived in Transilvania in 7th until 4th century BC, and later they were expeled to north. They were nomadic people who shared their wives between all of them (Or at least that is whar Herodotus said) and tattooed their bodies and dyed their hair blue. Sound like good cult material for me, specially if your players don't know.

Many thanks for this answer, though--I did a Fulbright in Romania in 2001/2002, but never did get to Cluj, though I wanted to. If you get the opportunity, by all means go on a fortified church tour in the old medieval German towns like Sibiu, and Sigisoara, and Brasov, and also on a tour of the Moldovan painted monasteries--you will get enough scenario ideas to keep you going for years. As for the Agathyrsi, I suspect Herodotus was just jealous--he was probably up for a bit of wife swapping and lived in hope.

Hi there. I've played various RPGs for the past 20 years or so. Call of Cthulhu I find a very good game (primarily because I enjoy the lovecraftian setting). I have tried ToC only once, but found it very intriguing. I hope to get my group onto some serious trail gaming any year now.

Hi all. I feel like a bit of an imposter here since this forum seems to be focused mainly on the CoC RPG, which I've never played (cue gasps of horror), although I have played the Dark Corners of Earth video game (*still* stuck on the hotel escape sequence, dammit!). My Big Thing as far as video games go is the Half-Life series, which I'm finding increasingly Lovecraftian as it goes along, actually. Also been playing Amnesia: The Dark Descent just lately - and yes, it is as scary as they say it is.

I came here by way of the forum on the HPPodcraft site, which I'm sure is known to many here.

Been an HPL fanboy for quite a few years now, and began writing my own weird fiction a couple of years back, some of which can be found here: http://dointhelambethwarp.wordpress.com/ - if you'll excuse the shameless plug. I'm an Englishman living in the Netherlands, where I work as an engineer although my background is in theoretical physics...man, I really felt for poor Walter Gilman...

    But anyway, hello!

    Hi all.

    Gary from Minneapolis, Minnesota here.

Love Trail of Cthulhu. I played in my first CoC game about 2 years ago- The King in Yellow. The campaign ran for 2 years....and it was a blast. So, I'm hooked on all things Cthulhuian!

I'm just starting a Bookhounds game and am going to be trying to set up some one-shots with my guys as well.

Welcome to Old Yoggie, Gary! You (and poor Bradford Wakefield, Twit-at-Large) really brought a lot of fun to Tatters of the King, and I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with Bookhounds.
