    Mysterious Caverns in South London

Anyone running campaigns based in London in any era may be interested in this article:

    http://icsouthlondon.icnetwork.co.uk...name_page.html

This relates to "Jack Cades" Cavern in Blackheath as discussed in the London Guidebook. For people running present day campaigns they may be interested to know the main A2 road over the caverns collapsed about a 18 months ago to 2 years ago and they are still investigating what caused it.
If anyone wants additional local information post back to me on this site with requests as I live right next to where the caverns are supposed to be located. I will reply presuming the tentacles don't get me first!

There are also some caverns tucked away in Chiselhurst, Kent, which is fairly close to Blackheath - still inside the M25.

I believe that they are called 'Kent's Caverns' (imaginatively enough!)

They are open to the public and well worth a visit if you're in the area.

And IIRC if you search long and deep enough you may discover the dessicated remains of that unseapkable terror known as a Live Action Role Player... Wasn't Chiselhurst Caves on of the venues Treasure Trap used in the very early days?

Labyrinth stills runs down Chiselhurst Caves AFAIK. I've played a few times. The other half of the caves are open for visits. They're basically lime quarries. You can see where they filmed episodes of Dr Who and Blakes 7.

I went to a lecture in Greenwich recently by Tony Clayton, the author of Subterranean City: Beneath the Streets of London. He talked about ghosts in the Blackheath caves, and also how it used to be a ballroom, much of the article is probably taken from his book.
