Joseph here, I live in Boone, Iowa. I have run Call of Cthulhu occasionally and played in a number of role playing games at Iowa State University over the years. I am presently running a Cthulhu Invictus campaign of my own poor devising for a group of fellow club members.

No, not kidding. In Boone, happily scribbling away for the Saturday Cthulhu game at Iowa State Memorial Union.

Let me know if you want to look in on it.

Hi there! I'm 21, university student from Sydney, Australia - always fun to see a mention of my uni pop up in Lovecraft's works! Finishing up one degree and about to start a grad course, thought I'd spend the holidays catching up on RPG-ing, which I've always loved but haven't had a real chance to do since high school.

Only just started playing CoC, and I've already had a few bizarre, terrific sessions and received some excellent advice from the denizens of this board.

    Hey there,

I have been lurking here for a while now. I am nearly 37 year old Finnish gamer. I have played CoC with our long standing roleplaying group years ago and now I have been working on a 2012 apocalypse scenario to run by myself for the group during this year.

    Another new poster saying hi!

Been playing CoC for years and got into ToC. Love the Yog Radio stuff.

    Good day!

I'm a veteran gamer of [cough] years of age, and I although I'm old enough to remember things like the released of the Traveller Little Black Box back in the late 70s, I haven't played Cthulhu previously. Coming across a number of links to the game online recently I took a closer look and decided I really liked what I saw.

I'm trying to set up a PBEM game with me as keeper, moving the published introductory scenario to London and a Cthulhu by Gaslight setting. I love the narrative creation in roleplaying, and being keeper gives me the best opportunity to do this and put my own stamp on the gameplay. Does anyone know where I can recruit players though? I've tried RPOL but haven't had any interest and the games there seem to be mostly more freeform. My problem is that unless the players are very good at avoiding meta-gaming, I really need newbies to Cthulhu like me, or the surprise elements of the scenario will ruined. Anyone have any ideas.

    Welcome Prof Thomas !

Ah yes, I remember that black box well...

For pbem you can try posting in the forums here, and you might like to also try http://www.callofcthulhu.org.uk/ , where many of the online games are hosted.

Don't worry being a new keeper - you are not alone, and there are many helpful threads around. If you do a search on "new keeper" or "the haunting" (which is the scenario usually recommended to new keepers) you should find quite a bit of advice.

You may also find this (incomplete) thread useful

Let's see: I am (gulp) a 43-year-old New Yorker, used to game a lot but lately don't seem to have the energy for it. Ironically, I've only actually played by-the-book Call of Cthulhu once or twice, and in fact I wasn't even a Lovecraft reader until a couple of years ago. But as I get older and a certain amount of existential pessimism sets in, the hard sf I used to prefer seems to grab me less, and the Weird seems increasingly more honest. When I did finally crack Lovecraft, I tore through pretty much the entire canon, and discovered Thomas Ligotti while I was at it.

    So hi.

Greetings from the hunting grounds of Ithaqua!

I've been reading HPL since Highschool, though I was a fan of Cthulhu ever since I saw that one episode of Ghostbusters. Azathoth bless Youtube!

I've listened to Yog Radio and News from Pnakotus for long time now. I've never had a chance to play a whole game of Call of Cthulhu, but I've played Arkham Horror a few times with my brothers.

Now if you'll excuse me, the wind is calling my name....

    Greetings from Finland!

I'm a woman in her 20's and pretty new to RPG's, only starting out as a GM, first played a pen-and-paper RPG in 2005, before that I had been more of a geeky video game girl. But it was love at first sight and now I'm trying my hardest to become better at game mastering as well.

Currently I don't see myself fit to get into horror RPG's and (therefore I haven't really looked into CoC-books for any GM-purposes), since the game I currently run was originally horror but turned out more like a comedy. Though it might also have something to do with this is only my second try as a GM (first one went horribly bad for many reasons) and players being pretty new to RPG's as well. Trying to master Asylum, if anyone here is curious.

But hell with this, I need to check out that Yog radio everyone here talks about.

A warm welcome from a big fan of the land I the Finns!

This is your place to be. And don't worry about the comedy. Most of my games are like that, leave the horror for the good parts.

Hello all completely missed this thread to begin with. I just recently got into cthulhu, with a group out here in southern nevada. Been Gm'ing for them a variety of D&D, Warhammer fantasy, and Dresden. Got hooked into a Cyberthulhu game they were running on another night and am now hooked on it. The Cyber game got killed but that night is now Cthulhu modern. When my Dresden game ends later this year am going to start running a WW2 Cthulhu game modified for fate system. It's a pretty big under taking as i cant find any really good refernces for it anywhere else. Please PM me if you got some info that would make it easier for me.
Now with all that Said, great site and great people here.

    Intro from a de-Lurker!

    Hi all

Just a quick wave to y'all - I'm an HPL fan, and an old, nay ancient CoC player (but haven't played for years).

I met Paul last night at the HP Podcraft recording, and felt guilty I've never actually got round to registering and posting. So here I am!

    Cheers
    Al
