CthulhuTech curiosity over on Hero Games

In the interest of cross-forum communication, here's a link to the beginnings of some musings on CthulhuTech over on the Hero Games forums.

    http://www.herogames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=66277

It struck me that there might be the odd one or two people on this forum who might be able to help them out!

Btw - Hero, much like old Yoggie is that rarest of beasts - it has friendly and welcoming forums![/i]

*spits lager over laptop in shock and horror*

    YAHTZEE...!?

    Dice-roll obsessed fools!

A big robot suit is as NOTHING to the madness and horror of great Cthulhu! When he rises he shall sweep them aside like the dust they are and devour their writhing and tormented essence!

    I'a Cthulhu! Cthulhu Fta'ghn!

It's amazing though how used you can get to rolling 12d6 for your energy blast and then gleefully adding it up...

Not sure if it would make good audio though... might need some editing, or at least people who can add up really quickly! I would like to hear someone try though... HeroCthulhuTech.mp3 perhaps anyone?

I think Renaissance pt II from the anuimatrix is as close to cthulhutech as youre gonna get. (the guy having just his torso pulled out of the shell of a powered suit byt robotic 'tentacles' springs to mind)

That said... Im not a fan of cthulhu tech or faux-2300AD.... er... I mean Cthulhu Rising.

Cthulhutech is actually quite lovecraftian, probably the best scifi horror game I have played yet.

To many focus on the mechas, but they are only a small part.

This is a very good alternative to the Cthulhu setting: End Games.

It's a beautiful book, and well written. I'm reading it now and looking forward to giving it a go.

I love Robotech. I love The Cthulhu Mythos. I am very hopeful this shall rock.

Yeah, I bought it a while ago and loved reading it. However, when I tried an open call to start some campaigns a while ago, no one really seemed interested in the setting. I think anime horror and Lovecraft fit together pretty well!

The CthulhuTech system will be much more fully realized when Vade Mecum comes out next month: new psychic powers (hello, Akira!), more professions, alternative mechanics (cards instead of dice). I'm looking forward to it!

Hero Games forums are a mine of goodness.

Cthulhu Tech is definitely not my bag but I can see why it has attractions for others.
    Cheers.

    Peter.

Yeah, once I can scrape up the dough I'll be buying that stuff, even if I never play it I'll enjoy reading through the book at least
