I got the DVD at CthulhuCon, signed by the director. Missed the screening at the con due to gaming activities, but I watched the movie at home. I must say, I was pleasantly surprised. This is a very atmospheric adaptation, true to the spirit of the story and very well made. I particularly enjoyed Mrs. Gärtner's madness; very creepy, very well acted and well shot. Didn't quite know what to do with the ending yet, but I was a bit drowsy by that time ... I'll watch it again. And again.

I'm really glad you did this movie, and I'm happy it seems to be a success. All the DVDs taken to CthulhuCon were sold out - I got the last one, apparently. Looking forward to watching the extras. I hope you'll tackle another HPL story soon.

Die Farbe was a delight to watch! As the story is one of my favourites it was with some trepidation that I watched it, hinge it wasn't going to be as bad as I feared.

I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the FX I could see and even more impressed when I learned about all the FX I didn't see! The story is very well adapted and fits very well into it's german location and the WW2 time period. Direction and acting are well executed and the story is genuinally creepy, with some moment that are real nail biters. I also loved that it was shot in black and white with only some "colour" added in at appropriate moments.

An excellent adaptation for all Lovecraftian fans!

You can get Die Farbe on DVD and Blu-Ray either directly from the Die Farbe web site (Germany) or from the H.P. Lovecraft Historical Society (US).

Apparently the difference between the two are that the HPLHS version has an American accent dub of the first scene in the Library and fixes a couple of audio glitches.

If you want the Blu-Ray version then that's only available from the Die Farbe site itself.

Paul, you will likely see this coming, but any chance Innsmouth House will be picking up the US copy for sale here in the UK?

We crunched the numbers but unfortunately by the time we've paid shipping, import duties, VAT and handling charges it would prove uneconomic for this product. (i.e. it's cheaper to order a personal copy from the States!)

Ordered my copy of the DVD from the site on Sunday and it arrived today (Friday). Cost me £16.16 including postage to the UK based on the Euro to pound conversion rate back then.

I shall look at the DVD when I have a spare moment...

I ordered the blu-ray version but it did not work despite being multi-region. Mr. Vu confirmed that some other people in the US have reported issues with the blu-ray. My blu-ray players is a Sony PS3. I'm not sure if the problem is confined to the PS3 or other US players as well.

He was very helpful in getting me a replacement DVD, however. The movie itself is fantastic. I highly recommend it.

But for those in the US, you might want to be aware of the potential issue before ordering the blu-ray version. The DVD version may be a safer choice.

Hi, many thanks for the positive feedback!

About the Blu-ray issue: We finally figured out where the problem is - our film has 25 frames per seconds, which is not one of the Blu-ray standards, and it seems that European Blu-ray players are far more likely to be able to play 25fps, since everything has been 25fps (or 50i) here for a long time and thus the manufacturers seem to have implemented that.

It's quite shocking for me to see that there still seems to be a silly technical divide - the whole idea behind HD and Blu-ray was to get rid of those system differences... I realize it's important to be compatible with the old system, but why not be compatible with both old systems?

Anyway, anyone interested in purchasing our Blu-ray should check if his player (and TV screen) is capable of playing at 25 fps.

I just got my DVD copy today and just got through watching it.

Bloody hell that was good! Really good! You guys should be very proud.

There's some dodgy CSO at the very beginning and a completely unnecessary twist at the end but neither of these spoil what is otherwise an absolutely superb adaptation of my favourite Lovecraft story.
