It’s time for the Secret Shoggoth again. That special time of year when we trade tribaubles to grow as a community.
Yog-Sothoth.com Secret Shoggoth IV.
Here’s how it works:
You send me a private message that includes:
Your name
Your address
Where you would be willing to ship a gift be you can choose anywhere or one or two countries or whatever. There are plenty of Yoggies around, so if you don’t want to send something over any oceans that’s fine we always have more people willing to ship anywhere than we need.
Then, buy a gift, the price ought to be $20-25 or so. If you want to wait to see who you get then that’s fine but the closer to December the worse the shipping time becomes.
On Nov 23 or so, I’ll assign you someone to gift and send you their address.
Also, around the 22nd I’ll need some people and the chatroom so we can roll to see who gets who, think of it as rolling on the treasure table from the old DMG.
As soon as you get your assigned shoggee, send them a gift, the gift should arrive by Dec 15th.
If for some reason something goes wrong let me know. Immediately, maybe sooner.
Rules:
1. Gifts ought to cost around $20-25 USD. The price of some monographs, others cost more or less. Price is before shipping.
2. The gifts ought to arrive by Dec 15. If there is a problem with this, let me know.
2a. If you can get a shipping number, that’s cool. You don’t have to but it will make trouble more avoidable. Also, you don’t have to but when you get your package, it’d be nice of you to note it here so your shoggoth knows that everything arrived.
3. If for some reason the gift won’t arrive or something goes wrong. Contact me immediately.
4. You must have been a member of Yog before Oct 29th China time.
You guys are better than this but let’s put it out there.
6. Keep it clean and legal, no shipping booze to kids, guns to Britain, lock picks to Canada or midget-shoggoth porn to anyone.
7. For the love of Cthulhu, contact me if something goes wrong. Again, the sooner I hear from someone the sooner I can fix things.
8. There’s precious little anyone can do to you if you don’t send a gift. But we’re Yoggies and above that kind of thing.
Thoughts:
Let’s assume that everyone already has their copies of Uttati Asfet and the Bermuda Triangle.
You might want to send your real name along unless you want a package showing up for some dude named Ten_Inch_Psudopod.
You may want to post a quick idea roll about what you want but you have no promises as to what you’ll get. You may also want to post about what you have, if say you already own every monograph, then you’d want to mention that so you don’t get another copy of The Abby to adorn your Dark Ages shelf with.
Also, the gifts don’t have to have anything to do with Cthulhu, I understand many people love tea and Doctor Who, though you might want to look into things your shogee likes.
Those of us who live in far flung and fantastic locations may find it extra good to post a short list of electronic things we lust after, the Chaosium eBook explosion and DrivethroughRPG both will be happy to get an ecopy of a book to Antarctica much faster than the standard messenger albino penguin.
And as always:
Note: For some reason old Yog has been moving slow for me so this year expect my responces to be a little Sluggish.

I'm pretty sure we've passed the number of people from year one. We're at 37 now, not quite a record.

There is a problem with UK based involvement. Not that we won't do it but just we can't guarantee that parcels will arrive before Xmas because we're in the throws of a protracted postal strike. _________________ Bring Back the Kult of Keepers!

Are there delivery alternatives? Here in the states, we have United Parcel Service (UPS) and Federal Express (FedEx), and many vendors allow you to choose one of them instead of the US Postal Service. _________________ Chris Jarocha-Ernst
There are alternatives but they are all more expensive because they incur VAT whereas the Royal Mail doesn't. And some of them use the Royal Mail in part of their service. _________________ Bring Back the Kult of Keepers!

My first response was "good gods, already? Is it that time again?", followed by "hell yeah!". I'm in!

In the last two years I've included a "homemade" scenario or article as part of my gift - so I'd better get my thinking cap on and keep up the tradition!

This is my third year too. Don't tell my friends and familly but I actually look forward to opening the SS present more than any other ones. Very exciting. _________________ Think on.

I don't think my props last year were very well received, so i'm going to have to think of something else. Andy, i may have to swipe your idea...
