Lord Hallandale holds an event at his smart London town house in Stoke Newington. As a patron of the arts he has agreed to help raise funds and publicity for Sir Bradfield Penneman and his Loyal Order of Canadian Patriots, a group dedicated to strengthening ties between Canada and the mother country. Lord Hallandale's daughter Elizabeth and his "companion" Victoria are present, as are his protégé the explorer Ben Raith, and many local worthies.
Elizabeth Derrowshire: born March 19th 1872.
Elizabeth is the daughter of Henry Derrowshire, Lord Hallandale, a Liberal member of the House of Lords and close ally of Mr Gladstone. Her mother, Lady Celia died of consumption (TB) when she was a teenager. Her father has recently begun a relationship with a young woman, younger and prettier than Elizabeth herself.
