I've about reached my limit.
Many of you own my ENCYCLOPEDIA CTHULHIANA. I still get kind comments, and people often tell me how they've used it to great success in their games. It was first published almost ten years ago. During that time, it's gone through two editions of two printings each - not bad for a specialty small-press book. It won an Origins Award, which was about the only gaming award that mattered at the time (though some would state it's been superseded since).

Delta Green as a sailing game. Yeah, right. I am baffled why my favorite setting includes some of the worst choices for a character sheet I've ever seen, and that was my way of saying it.
Let's move on to another Delta Green-related matter - Dennis Detwiller's latest efforts to raise money for putting out DG material (see here: http://detwillerdesign.com/) What I'll concentrate on is one of his recent statements here:

It's been a rough week, but I'm back with another rant.
If you're getting involved in a new setting, or just a new game run by someone else, for CoC, it's often good to check over the character sheet for any changes in skills. Often these can tell you something about the game you wouldn't get otherwise.
Let's take a look at the sheet of that DELTA GREEN thing everybody's talking about.
When I look at this sheet, a few things catch my eye. We have a

There's a great deal of debate about organizations' role in CoC. This is largely due to a dichotomy that other RPGs and pop culture have created. People think that, because you have an organization, it will be a well-funded, international, multi-part conglomerate like SAVE (Chill) or the Hoffman Institute (Alternity: Dark Matter) or Ghostbusters.
Thus, we end up with organizations like the Order of the Sword of Saint Jerome in The Abbey, which seem not only unlikely but completely

Based on Zoran's comments on the last thread, it's time for another rant about Idea, Luck, and Know.
Zoran points out that games like Nephilim base rolls on characteristicX3 instead of X5 as Cthulhu does. (Plus, I'd point out that this X3 roll applies across the board to all characteristics.) Then, you can adjust the multiplier for harder and easier skills. It's a useful idea, no question about it.
Still, there may be a better way to handle such contests that works
