[HERE BE SPOILERS!!]
So that out of the way...my group finished running through the scenario "The Plantation", from the Mansions of Madness book, last night. Overall, a very good adventure. With only three players, they had a difficult choice before them during the Calling of Yig ceremony; they had promised little Joe that they would rescue his older sister, and had been assured by the serpent man that she would be safe. At the same time, they knew that they had to go underground to distract the serpent queen. Splitting up the group would probably be fatal for all involved, so they decided to all travel down one of the hellholes. A frantic battle ensued, in which they managed to get the queen's attention long enough for Yig to appear. Yig laid waste to the queen after mating with her, blessed everyone in the group, and let them be.
However, they came back to the surface to find the cultists scattered, and poor Joe crying at the altar, where the mutilated body of his sister lay. Everyone in the group was crushed that they had failed him, and dispite their success, it felt empty and hollow...
This was no easy adventure from a moral standpoint for the investigators. With more in their party, they might have been able to avoid the predicament they found themselves in. But that's what i liked about this scenario; no easy answers. And my players enjoyed it, too.
