So yesterday I opened up a new forum area for YSDC Patrons ("The Silver Lodge") and at the same time brought out the first issue of Yog-Sothothery, a newsletter for members of the new "Lodge". It's been a long and winding path getting to this point.

For a long time we've wrestled with how to pay olde Yoggie's bills month in, month out either through advertising/sponsorship, subscription or online sales. Our offerings through the Innsmouth House store tick over thanks to kind customers but margins are always very keen when other vendors are a click away of course. We recently finished a new trial (our 4th and I expect last) with Google Ads. Unfortunately they performed poorly as we don't tend to deal excessively in either vices, finance, pharmaceuticals or marketing!

After much internal discussion this leaves us with two realistic avenues:
  • Producing unique selling point items for Innsmouth House.
  • Our Patronage (subscription) system.
Offering unique items from Innsmouth House is something we've started doing (and are planning more of, hence the current offering of our "Lovecraftian Letters" magnet set), but again sales can be sporadic.

The YSDC Patronage system is currently (and for the forseeable future) the only reliable way we have of keeping "olde Yoggie" going so we're investing efforts in making patronage as attractive a prospect as we can. Without such support YSDC will be gone inside a month.

That's the hard and fast of it. It's a path I've always been reluctant to pursue but Yoggie's patronage system is what keeps everything afloat for everyone and remains the only viable means of doing so.

If you've ever enjoyed what we provide, please do take a look at what Yoggie patronage can offer (as well as simply keeping the site going)!

Thank you.
