  • The Pale God - Audio Game

During the annual "Festival' at Innsmouth House, we have guests, festivities, games and sometimes recording. This year one of the things we recorded was a game session of The Pale God by Kevin A. Ross, with Chris Lackey of the H.P. Lovecraft Literary Podcast as the Keeper of Arcane Lore.

See how our brave (foolish?) Investigators do as they explore strange goings on in old Arkham town. Released as a 128 Kbps 3D Surround Sound binaural recording. You can just hear the screams...

Written by Kevin A. Ross, The Pale God appears as a scenario in Chaosium Inc's 1989 publication, The Great Old Ones.

The Pale God - Audio Game (MP3, 155 MB, running time: 02:48:31)

The audio is also available on the YSDC Podcast feed and in the Downloads section of YSDC.

While currently out of print, The Great Old Ones is available as a PDF from DriveThruRPG.

It was fun to play and thanks again to Chris for running it!

      Wonderful! Thank you kindly!

I remember the scenario as a bit of a meatgrinder, but with a great atmosphere.

Such a pleasure to hear one of my favorite scenarios played by a different group! Sorry that no one agreed to the pact, but the results hardly left a wet squishy splotch on how things turned out.

Great game guys. Chris is an excellent Keeper and Helen, Paul and Nick did a superb job of role playing their characters right up till the squishy shoe pounding climax.

      Many thanks,

Running quickly, but carefully - LOL the universal mode of travel of all adventurers. Great stuff, madness and death are always better with an English accent.

This is the way Cthulhu should be played.

Denial (there must be a rational explanation!)
Death (ooo blimey, no there isn't!)
      and Departure at speed

Yes, very funny and also disturbing in places! I love the fact that the players thought of the potential moneymaking opportunities!

I don't think i'd be alone in requesting that you all play more of these solo adventures. I took some time to read the adventure before listening, and it made for a most enjoyable time listening on my headphones while i shoveled myself out of my house in snowy Buffalo!

Weird - my players thought that too when they got hold of Effram's machine in the scenario Transgressions in Secrets of New York. Will those players ever learn?

Great games guys - loved the inversion of Brits players playing US characters and a US Keeper playing UK characters. Can we have more please?

Actually, we play a number of them, but usually they're Patron-only releases!

Muahahaha... the joys of being in the inner-circle.

Unless the Innsmouth House players represent the real inner-circle, which would make us part of the outer inner-circle or the inner outer-circle. Or possibly some kind of middle-circle.
