• Chaosium Launch Kickstarter for Orient Express Box Set Reprint

Horror on the orient Express - Chaosium Kickstarter 2012.Following much speculation, Chaosium have decided to join in the crowdfunding phenomenon and have launched a Kickstarter to see their epic Call of Cthulhu campaign, Horror on the Orient Express back in print as a boxed set.

Horror on the Orient Express was Chaosium's last boxed set to date (1991) so it seems fitting that it's their first new one of the 21st century. The goal is to raise $20,000 (US) and there are lots of reward levels on offer.

Needless to say, I've already pledged...

The fundraiser bills itself as a "re-imagining" of the campaign rather than a straight reprint and promises "The Definitive Edition" including an extended roster of NPCs, new afterword by the authors, improved cardstock covers, additional art, revamped maps and expanded handouts - including a matchbox (similar to the one included in the first edition of Masks of Nyarlathotep).

Stretch goals may also be on their way, including an Orient Express menu, coasters (Helen will be pleased) and more.

Chaosium will be taking a design que from the Italian reprint of HotOE by Stratelibri.

Horror on the Orient Express Kickstarter

A puzzling headline begins a front-page article found in the Times of London. Three men, all identified as the same man, were found in the same room of the Chelsea Arms. All were killed in the same manner — stabbed through the heart.

Then the home of a valued friend burns to the ground, severely burning him in the process. An odd summons, a surreptitious meeting, and a thousand-mile journey begins on the legendary rail service carrying the investigators to the Gateway of the Orient.

Horror on the Orient Express contains a massive adventure for the Call of Cthulhu roleplaying game. Beginning in 1920s London, the investigators journey to Paris and then to the ancient city of Constantinople. The campaign is made up of four legs of the journey, each contained in its own book: Through the Alps, Italy and Eastern Europe, Constantinople & Return, and Strangers On The Train. Take part in this epic adventure either as gamemaster or as an investigator, either way you are in for a harrowing and exciting adventure!

Chaosium will be releasing a re-imagined Horror on the Orient Express boxed set. This project will have new art, revamped maps, and fun goodies to aid in the roleplaying experience.

I think I will be doing my very best to be able to get a copy of this boxset despite the fact I think that Chaosium will get this printed and out in shops after this is all over.

I did a vlog on this too... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HzeYL...1&feature=plcp

I just noticed on the Kickstarter page that the production is described as a "re-imagining" of Horror on the Orient Express (not a "re-imaging") and those can be two different things.

I feel your pain. We're closing here in a couple weeks so I've gotta be careful about committing to much of anything.

Great news, but do we know if this is 7th edition or not? I didn't see any mention of that on the kickstarter.

It is going to be difficult to get answers from Chaosium until they are back from Gencon and unpacked.

I realize GenCon has been on - and once the guys are back - I hope they mention the kick starter on the main Chaosium home page of the web site before the funding deadline.

Yes, I just upped my pledge to get that book since I missed the Indiegogo project.

EDIT: Actually, what am I talking about, the book is added at the Engineer level... will have to see if I go for that later tho.
