  • Fungi from Yuggoth - At the Mountains of Madness Audio

Fungi from Yuggoth coverA bit of a bumper week for Lovecraft-inspired audio, with two new album releases featuring music by Allicorn.

Released on 14th February, At the Mountains of Madness is an album inspired by HPL's eponymous tale, while Fungi from Yuggoth (released on the 15th) sees the reading of H.P. Lovecraft's famous sonnet cycle set to music.

Both albums are available as high quality digital downloads, with Fungi also providing a 25 page booklet.

If you're after more Lovecraft-inspired aural endeavours, these may be just the ticket!

    Fungi from Yuggoth

Written in a short period between 1929-1930, Lovecraft's sonnet cycle of 36 poems express his own unique visions of horror and wonder in a succint and atmospheric style. In the Innsmouth House Press edition of this work, HPL's poetry is read by Paul Maclean and set to specially composed music by Allicorn.

The recording also comes with a 25 page booklet which includes the sonnets themselves, a brief history of Fungi from Yuggoth, footnotes on select poems and an introduction by Lovecraftian author, W.H. Pugmire.

"There have been some excellent readings of the sonnets, but none surpass these superb renditions by Paul Maclean. The British voice is a perfect vehicle for the speaking of poetry, and Maclean's voice has a haunted quality that perfectly expresses the mystic and dark wonder of these sonnets. I have listened to this outstanding recording numerous times -- it haunts my torturous dreams..."
    - W.H. Pugmire

Bought and listened to. Such amazing pieces of work! Allicorn is definitely evolving. Besides MC's "The Fourth" my favorite pieces of Mythos-inspired music ever. ATMOM is epic, even monumental - just give a try to Thaw, a real gem. FFY has a more chill-out quality. Melancholic and Poesque. Paul Maclean voice sounds very clear and in harmony with the music. The whole thing provides a relaxing, smooth experience.

Bought this and listened to it after work one afternoon. It was the most chilled out thing I have listened to for a very long time. Cup of tea and a breather with the Fungi from Yuggoth is well recommended after a long day.
