BACKGROUND INFO: Until last summer, twelve year old Brian Smith was, for the most part, an average child. Growing up in rural Vermont on his family's small farm, Brian spent most of his days helping his mother and father with daily chores, fishing in a nearby stream, and going for long walks in the forested hills.
