Vague rambling updates for October

Posted by Shimmin Beg , 14 October 2017 · 313 views

I once again haven't been around much on YSDC. To an extent that's because I haven't done very much Cthulhu gaming recently (lots of Pathfinder), and I also haven't had much free time for my usual meandering blogposts on theory and stuff. I do want to come back to Fun-Sizing in the future though, it's been good.

I've also been ill repeatedly, which is a bit frustrating, but one of the hazards of working with the public, alas. They will carry pesky human diseases, and so most of the last week I've once again been off work and slumped on the settee listening to podcasts.

Thankfully I have managed to make a bit of progress on some things I'm working on. I'm just editing a couple of actual play recordings I hope to put out soon, and I managed to put together a short scenario. It inspired me with a bunch of other ideas I hope to flesh out as well, but I really should be trying to finish one of those already underway. And there's another thing for which I have a heap of reference materials to read, and haven't managed to work on at all due to flu making my eyes too sore for reading. Sigh. This would be so much easier from a brain jar...

Hope you feel better soon.

I LOVE the Fun-Sizing articles:  to me, they've been a great way out of a few of the creative corners that role-playing games, by their nature, tend to paint us into, and certainly have been one of the most important influences on the way my occasional "Mythos" gaming and writing have evolved over the years (that evolution has been anything but perfect, but that's been more because of my own limitations, than due to a lack of quality in your articles!)  The "Fun-Sizing" articles are, effectively, a great way to "get back to basics" on what makes this genre of gaming fun and effective, and rehabilitate those elements of the game that are basically unusable by default!

Thank you Yronimos!  It's always nice to be appreciated.  I hope to get back to the blog eventually, probably nothing major until next year unless inspiration strikes.  It's great that other people are finding them useful.  At the moment I've got a couple of bigger projects I am trying to focus on (not very successfully, but there we go).
