Dr. Jones Joins Chaosium

Picked up by Bret (WinstonP) in the forums, Chaosium have announced that Dr. William Jones (William_J) has joined their staff.

William will be no stranger to the people of olde Yoggie, he and his wife (Deborah) starting The Book of Dark Wisdom and both being 'Sons of Yog-Sothoth' (moderators to YSDC's eponymous literary forum); add to that William's writing credits with Secrets of New York, Mysteries of Morocco, Arkham Tales, The Strange Cases of Rudolph Pearson and the forthcoming Pulp Cthulhu to name a few, round off with the odd Professorship and you can see that this is very good news for Chaosium.

With all the new developments for the game over the past few weeks, it looks like a great time ahead for Cthulhu fans!

Delta Green: Targets of Opportunity - Fundable Fundraiser

Following on from the very successful release of Delta Green: Eyes Only, Arc Dream and Pagan Publishing are collaborating to produce a new supplement for the Delta Green setting - Delta Green: Targets of Opportunity.

The companies have decided to use Fundable as a means of releasing the book, saying:

"We're going the Fundable route for 'Targets of Opportunity' because our two publishing companies have their meager (sic) capital tied up in many other product lines, and, frankly, producing a book like this costs an awful lot of money. If you help us raise the money for it, we'll produce the book."

Arc Dream & Pagan are looking to raise $20,000 (US) by Wednesday, 28th May, 11:59 PM EST. As with all Fundable projects, if the pledge total is not met, no monies are taken. (All or nothing.)

Keith Herber: Back in the Game with Miskatonic River Press

Like British buses, nothing for ages and then three come along at once!

There have been rumblings in the forums, but it's now official, Keith Herber whose name graces the cover of many widely loved Call of Cthulhu supplements such as Fungi from Yuggoth (Day of the Beast), Arkham Unveiled and the rest of the 'Lovecraft Country' series (to name a few) is returning to Call of Cthulhu with his own Chaosium-licenced imprint: 'Miskatonic River Press'.

Chaosium Licensing Madness!

I couldn't resist the news title, so I didn't. (Oscar Wilde wouldn't mind.)

Reality Deviant Publications are the latest in a new line of Chaosium Call of Cthulhu licensees.

The following borrowed liberally from the pages of GamingReport.com:

"The contracts are signed in blood, the sacrifices have been made, and mighty Cthulhu has bestowed his blessings. Reality Deviant Publications is happy to announce we are the newest Chaosium licensee! RDP will focus on support of the True20 game system by bringing fans of all things Cthulhu outstanding game supplements which bring H.P. Lovecraft's deliciously maddening Mythos to life!"

So it's not only more BRP-based Call of Cthulhu supplements we can look forward to.

Call of Cthulhu coming to Virtual Tabletop (Fantasy Grounds)

Picked up by MurghBpurn in the forums, Kevin Melka of Digital Adventures has announced that they are in the final stages of reachng an agreement with Chaosium, to bring the Call of Cthulhu ruleset & accessories to the Fantasy Grounds virtual (electronic) tabletop system.

Digital Adventures are hoping for a Summer 2008 release.

With new licensees, Basic Roleplaying, Pulp Cthulhu and much more due out over the coming months, it looks like a very busy time in the worlds of Cthulhu... :)

Chaosium issues Call of Cthulhu Licence to Super Genius...

Recently announced in their April 2008 newsletter, Chaosium have granted Super Genius Games (a division of Other World Creations), a licence to publish Call of Cthulhu supplements starting this summer.

That's all we know at the moment, but no doubt more information will be available nearer the time from Super Genius Games' web site over at: http://www.supergeniusgames.com.

Chaosium's BRP System Book Due May 2008

Chaosium have recently announced on their web site a planned release date (May 2008) for their Basic Roleplaying system (previously also known as BRP Deluxe).

The 384 page softcover publication features new cover art by long time Chaosium/Call of Cthulhu favourite, Paul Carrick; inspired by da Vinci's 'Vitruvian Man'.

Basic Roleplaying is a settingless book that gathers together all of the various BRP rules that have appeared in Chaosium games over the years into one place; covering anywhere from modern day play through to fantasy, horror, superhero and Sci-Fi. It is billed as a complete game.

Lovecraftiana: 'Accent Your Character' Dialect Training

New to Lovecraftiana (olde Yoggie's online shoppe) are a series of MP3 downloads from the fine gentlemen at Pulp Gamer.

The Accent Your Character series offers quick & simple dialect training, courtesy of professional voice coach, Paul Meier. Want to know how to speak with a Cockney, Scots or Irish accent? (assuming you don't already...) - or perhaps "The Queen's English"? - then Accent Your Character may be worth a look (and listen)!

Each course is available as a direct MP3 download along with supporting material in PDF.
